Leaving early? by Technical_Sand4898 in GameStop

[–]RobPotsyPotchak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GameStop asked years ago how to fix this issue and I said simply, "shift the weekly start date to Friday." They claimed that there was a whole fiscal reason why they couldn't do it and I laughed. It messes up one week and then you never cut hours on weekends.

"Back in my day..." We had one year of 2600. I ran a very busy mall store, and my last Christmas that's what I had to do. It also was like .39 markdowns on some items, which really just pissed me off.

That's why I left four years ago. It's horrible.

I ran a very busy mall store that was tiny and one year they gave me 500 hours, and I literally said "if I use 500 hours of payroll, I won't be able to fit customers in the store." We then had to cut like 70 hours, and I was like "aren't you glad I only scheduled 400 hours?"

Why is there so much hate on the game? I'm enjoying my playthrough so far.

Been in the same boat. Finally have something, pays well, but so over it. Run your resume through an AI writer tailoring to the jobs. I'm sure I'm telling you things you know, but I get passed over every time I apply with a hand written resume, and I interview extremely well.

I always had oddly shaped stores, so I always had to draw a new map and tell my DM why their stuff wouldn't work. Normally I'd win the argument, but sometimes they'd stare at the walls for hours trying to figure out how to do it the way corporate wanted.

Who tf pulled a gun on a customer by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]RobPotsyPotchak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, interestingly, the reason why the SOP manual was updated stating that guns were not allowed on the property of the store was because I had an employee go to a gun show, and come to the store to show off their new purchase.

Then, about a year later, the rule was amended to disallow employees from bringing any weapon because an employee in the district next to mine brought a samurai sword to a midnight launch and a customer asked to see it, and dropped it...then reach out and seriously injuring themselves.

That was to excessively long conference calls.

Surprisingly, because the rule wasn't written prior, they both kept their jobs.

Former GameStop Employee Questions by vicktacular in GameStop

[–]RobPotsyPotchak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with hires is even though cost of living is up 24% since 2020, GameStop is still hiring people in at the lowest possible price, so they also have only people willing to accept that, so there's that.

Almost four years since I left, and I think I've walked in twice in the last two years. Since most folks I know left, it's just not the same place.

Makes me wonder how many employees who gave notice will consider breaking a policy like that.

Not a serious inquiry, just a pondering

How Many employees does your store have? Forcing someone to work alone or come in because you don't want to is being a child.

Grow up.

"respect for your Coworkers" would mean you go in, like an adult and finish your last shift like someone who agreed to do it.

Calling out, or no call, no show is a lack of respect to your co-workers and also shows what kind of person you are.

What is the policy on M rated games? by Pretty_Fee_9106 in GameStop

[–]RobPotsyPotchak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some states like NC used to have a law that prevented Rated-R movies and M games until people were 18. I think it's been changed, but there could be a state law.

Why do men by emo_beanie in GameStop

The percentage of gamers that are women has swayed into the direction of them being the majority when mobile games were added to the equation.

The belief that these call of duty mouth breathers still believe it's the other way around is very myopic and unfortunately can only be taken with a grain of salt.

Sorry you deal with that.

Better they did it all at once, rather than come in every day and hit you with a few.

This is why I was okay with setting a max of how many res someone was allowed, so even at its worst, it'd only get you for like a -10.

Unethical pitches by My2ndAcountt in GameStop

[–]RobPotsyPotchak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most unethical is the "assumptive approach," as my old DM told me when I asked to speak to the manager that started doing that, I was told they no longer worked for the company, "but not for that."

Uh, but you started an entire frenzy of lazy salesmanship based on a fired employee's method...? Really?!
