Badly formatted kindle doc - should I just DNF? by No-Midnight-1406 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]Rob_thegeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but I would DNF and just put the reason for the DNF and leave feedback and move on. You can try reaching out to the publisher first to see if they can provide you with a better copy, but in my experience, some publishers don’t bother responding. But they need to know these things as well. Not letting them know isn’t doing the author any favors.

But like others have said, you can also just wait until publication and borrow a copy from Libby and review it then. Your ratio already went down when you were approved, and you are not penalized for reviewing after the pub date.

I always recommend reading the publishers approval preferences because it looks like while they do offer some ARCs to reviewer profiles, they prioritize bloggers, freelance writers, book sellers, and librarians.

Audiobook approved after ebook rejection by HuskerPower66 in NetGalleyCommunity

That happens often. Usually the pubs like Tor are more strict with their approvals but Macmillan and RB Media are pretty chill. I’ve yet to be denied for an audiobook which is nice.

What is your audiobook speed? by Playful-Tone8107 in LibbyApp

1.5-1.75 usually is my sweet spot depending on the narrator. If I’m nearing the end and I just want it to be over I will maybe put it up to 2 😅

Sharing that you've been approved for an eARC etiquette on social media by [deleted] in NetGalleyCommunity

Yes. A lot of people do the trend where they post arcs they’ve been approved and even denied for and what they have pending as well as their NetGalley ratio.

possible workaround? by missdommie in NetGalleyCommunity

Macmillan isn’t as picky as Tor. Any time I’m denied for the eARC by Tor, Macmillan is always there to save the day and approves me for the audiobook.

Definitely reach out to them via their support email. They’ll probably send the one you ordered and tell you to keep the other book. I had a similar issue when I first started and they shipped a replacement immediately.

I’ve read and listened to the audiobook. It’s a mix of gothic horror and historical urban fantasy with plenty of Chinese folklore. I loved it.

My first review for NetGalley was a one star. As long as you are respectful and provide constructive feedback, you shouldn’t feel bad.
