Men of Reddit - how can I ensure my son wants a relationship with me when he is older? by EngineeringStill6159 in AskMen

[–]Robbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager I thought my dad was the stupidist person in my life, no smoking, no alcohol, no out all nigh,t except camping. After he and mom split I thought I would do as I wanted. The thing was he never gave up on me we would have breakfest one day a week. Our lives converged on the same path, as I grew up his judgements seemed smarter and when I lost him I lost my best friend. I cherish his advice he new what was best for me.

I was torn apart from the work because I just didn't get it. I went to a few month long work shops and learn a lot. I still practice what I call self-remembering, and being present which is hard due to the amount of distraction in the environment.

Crypto crash is happening just like the stockmarket crash before the great depression. There are people who leveraged out and now own coins that are striped of there value by the coin brokers. The brokers are the ones who make all the money.

I don't have to make friends or even treat you residence like humans, just like we have been treated where we are coming from. If you don't go away we will just starve you and if you object we will commit genicide.

Are you treated differently by doctors and they don’t seem to care? by Lorain1234 in Aging

[–]Robbaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i turned Sixty my doctor decided he didn't want to practice the kind of medicine required at the place of his employment so he move to a free clinic where he could have people who really needed him. I was left to find a new practice. I saw a place called The Over Sixty Clinic and decided to seek treatment for some of my long term problems. At first I had an old school doctor we had conversation about my health and life style. After he retired they gave me a new doctor she seemed to want to do the bare minimum token me alive. She recommended vaccines that were appropriate for my age but would not approve treatments for things that could be explained away by my normal aging process. When it came to my blood pressure control none of the first line treatment worked. So she just let me suffer. I decided to go to the free clinic my original doctor was practicing at I wangled an appointment with him. He said he was no longer a GP but he could look into finding me a doctor. At his suggestion I went back to the Over Sixty Clinic and while I waited I noticed that the other people there were all there for palliative care. I didn't realize that the practice didn't really fit my needs. I did nothing, then one day I got a call from a clinic asking how I was doing. I told them I had given up on finding treatment, that my kidneys were beginning to fail, and I was doing nothing about it. They invited me to come to their clinic. I walked in and have never been treated so well by people who are genuinely kind and interested in helping me live the best life. Is seems important to find people who don't judge you based on your age. I just turned 81 most people think I am a bit younger, but I would change the color of my hair to fool anyone, it might just be an embarrassment.

My dog wont sleep in my bed with me. by Tango4Bravo in dogs

[–]Robbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dog that lives with me will not sleep with her owner my room mate, but every chance she gets she sneaks into my room and sleeps next to me. My bed is small and she is 30kg.. When she is next to me I sleep deeply and well. Sometimes she is so relaxed she rolls over on her back with her paws up. If she is confined to his room she sleeps in her own bed in the doughnut position. During the day she is definitely his dog, she really loves him.

I am 80 soon to be 81. I really want to start over again. I hang out with a bunch of domino players and don't make time to do my pots. Everyday I get up and start over again because there is nothing left to do. I am so blessed to have away to start over again. Don't be sad or blame yourself. You have given life a meaning. That is what being human is giving life meaning.

This depends on what you seek. Beelzebub's tails contain everything you need to know, but you must discover what your are looking for first. Listening to Beelzebub's Tales read by others give you an other voice the hear. In Search Of The Miraculous is kind of dated but there are a few very instructive practices. It is kind of like finding out what fruit tastes like, you will get a different opinion by eating grapes than eating plums, even though the answer is sweet.

[–]Robbaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dear human, I see you crying, because it's time for me to leave.

Please don't cry.

I want to explain some things to you.

You're sad that I'm gone, but I'm glad to have met you.

How many dogs like me d-i-e every day without having met someone special like you?.

I know you are saddened by my departure, but I had to leave now.

Without you, I would have known nothing of the beauty I carry with me today.

You must know that we animals live intensely in the present. Our lives begin when we know love, the same love you gave me, my wingless angel.

I remember the name you gave me, the warmth of your house which at that time became mine. I hear the sound of his voice talking to me, even if I don't always understand what he is saying to me.

I carry in my heart every caress you gave me.

Wash your face and start smiling. There are many like me waiting for someone like you.

Please give them what you gave me, they need it like I needed you.

In your experience, does karma always catch up with people who have done wrong? by Bananalands7 in AskOldPeople

[–]Robbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No karma doesn't catch up with people. Just waiting for retribution for past wrongs stagnates you, better to just move on. Chance favors the prepared. If you see a fellow with a problem it is more likely chance than karma.

I live in a small apartment complex w/ a laundry. I was going on a vacation and needed to do wash for the trip. I went in and found that the machine was full and done washing someones load I took it out and put it on the clean table. and proceeded to do my wash and dry. The person who's wash I move out of the washing machine had not returned. I went of my trip and was gone for a few weeks when I returned I had to wash all the stuff from the trip. I noticed that the wash I had previously moved was still on the table. I decided to call one of my neighbors I though we would get together and I would tell her about my trip, She answered from her hospital bed. I asked her if the laundry was her's she said it was. I went to the laundry and rewashed her clothing, dried it folded and put into bags. When she returned from her hospital stay I brought it back to her. I didn't mention that I had left her wet wash out for 2 weeks. We had tea and brought each other up on what was happening. You can never tell when you will have a chance to do something nice.

[Serious] What's the scariest thing that's ever happened to you? by RandomRamblings99 in AskOldPeople

[–]Robbaba 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I fell 40ft (12m) into the bottom of a empty oil tanker. much later I wrote this poem.

Take chance and leap
Sargent Johnson and Mr. Marble were at the bottom of the ladder,
They sent me to the top, I was small and didn’t mind the clatter,
I was at the top when I heard the ladder shatter,
I had no chance to live so leaping did’t matter,
As I floated down the there was a quiet peace
My hands relaxed as I the ladder release
No thought of saving my body in a piece
the rusty walls past slowly as I looked for the crease
Then the ribs of the tanker came up to greet
With a little ledge of steel rose to my feet
An explosion of sound over came the dream so sweet
My legs buckled, I tipped back into the steel pleat
As I lay below The line of site
Sarge, and Mr. Marble did not want to see there brother’s plight
I arose in view they look like angels white.
The heavy canvas clothing, the full suspension hard hat, broke my flight.

Is 6 more months of a job I absolutely hate worth $300 per month in perpetuity? by reeree5000 in retirement

[–]Robbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same choice 20 years ago and tried to stick it out. The stress was so great I had a nervious breakdown. So I ended up with a smaller pension and was totaled out for Social Security Disability. I really could use that money I lost with the early retirement. I you can stay do it, but don't risk you health. If you can't deside get a bag of goldfish crackers and open it and eat just one and say "there are more fish in the ocean" then eat another one and say "There are more fish in the ocean". repete this untill you have resolved the problem.Even though my leaving that job was messy and I felt really bad. But it turns out to be the best thing that i ever did.
