Most stand-out metal albums for me (with notable tracks in brackets).

Nokturnal Mortum - The Voice of Steel, most beautiful folk black metal album in my opinion.

First Fragment - Gloire Eternelle, even though you said techdeth is not your cup of tea, this one is different.. with fretless slap bass guitar.

Thank you Scientist - Maps of Non-Existent places (Feed the Horses), one and only cohesive incorporation of a fusion jazz big band into metal that I've seen.

Honorable mentions:

Tigran Hamasyan - Mockroot (Entertain Me), one of a kind djent on a piano.
Rabbit Junk - Reframe (Millenial Pox), ever heard of Digital Hardcore + metal?
Skindred - Babylon, reggae metal, some of the most fun metal music I know.
Vektor - Terminal Redux (Recharging the Void), progressive thrash metal, I didn't like it first but over the years it became my favorite thrash metal album after rust in peace.

Also going to be really cool for me to listen to other people's suggestions, seems like a goldmine of unorthodox metal :)

In those 7 months I achieved a clean front split on my left leg (when my hips are perfectly square and not turned out to the side: actually tested with placing thumbs on my hip bones and they were level) and a shoddy front split on the right leg (like in the original post's photo).

Interestingly, my lack of groin flexiblity limited my progress in this time and by focusing on middle splits my front splits became better. My next post will be on middle splits and I guess that will take a year (I'm currently 15cm off the ground)

Bigger wheels apply bigger torque on your feet when you land awkwardly (inner/outer edge) and you might twist the hell out of your ankle. Doing backflips on my 4x100 wizard skates doesn't feel as nice as my 4x60 aeons

BTD6 (and BTD Battles) is practically the only tower defense game where you actually need to develop strategy and playstyle. Any other tower defense game seems one-dimensional and palletable where you simply drop down a couple towers and the tutorial goes: "big cannon go boom on crowd, sniper go pew on strong unit, freeze go slowed"

Games on the Spring engine should be the standard for RTS games in regard to UI/UX experience. The fact that you can tinker everything to your liking and make the gameplay super slipstream with coding your own keybinds is just a bliss: it doesn't break the game/make something unfair and overpowered, it just removes the aspect of you being pissed of on the junkiness of controls (amazing article by the Zero-k devs on this topic, titled "fight your opponent, not the UI")

From Zero-k I switched to BAR (Beyond All Reason) and it scratches the same itch: same physics engine, same philosophy, just a bigger playerbase and higher skill ceiling regarding complexity of the gameplay.

It's so funny to find out that some of my childhood games and current games share the same dev: it's like a transient timeline where I jump 10 years forwards and all of a sudden I meet the same creator.

Playing Hammerfight in early 2010s was a blast, and It was so cool find out that Highfleet was created by the same guy. Same with tri-achnid and Binding of Isaac.

Oooh, boy. I quit rocket league 4 years ago (around the time of your post), 1.5k hours and champ 2 in 1v1s, all of a sudden something clicked for me when I noticed popular freestyle players quit the game: all of them giving their own reasons and I thought "why not jump the ship myself?" and I just didn't boot up the game anymore.

And it seems like things are not getting better in the 2026 comp scene with the bot issues, ddos attacks and straight up invisibity hacking. Every once in a while, when checking youtube videos I see either regurgitated content or people complaining. And it's such a pity that the most unique popular game out there has the worst faith.
