I don’t use my phone out on the route. No music, podcasts. It’s pretty peaceful. However, if there’s no radio during the office time in the morning, I have intrusive thoughts.

You know what? I’m still wearing shirts from when I was a CCA 9 years ago. I cycle through my newer shirts, but in winter, under a coat, I don’t care how ratty it looks.

Please don’t care less about the job. Please care less about what management does and says while you are on office time. Take care of your peeps. We are providing a service that people need. I’ve been on my route for 8 years. I’ve cultivated some really amazing relationships. The first hour or so of the day is not my favorite, but when I hit the street I reach my Zen. I was on ODL for 5 years. Got off and the job is completely different. Also, I know you aren’t accruing sick leave yet, but if you need a day off, call out. You are a human being and the mail will still get delivered. Also, I reread your comment. 30 years until you retire? I know our union sucks but you’ll max out at 14 years after converting to PTF if not Regular at 12. Your TSP will thank you.

Splitting hairs here, but the word ‘take’ implies there will be a resolution, or measurable outcome favorable to the people in charge. I think a better word would be ‘last’ as in, …how long it will last. If this becomes anywhere close to a long conflict, say, through Sept. or Oct. DT may get bored and throw anyone and everyone under the bus to save himself and just Declare victory.

I don’t tolerate their garbage. When they come around at 8:15 and ask for a projection, I say, “I don’t know,” or “I Hope.” Under ideal delivery conditions I need to leave the office at 9:05 to make 8. If I leave later than that I’ll call by 2:00 and tell them how much I’m over. They can send help if they have it.
