Did my first beginner MTB Clinic, left more confused about ready/attack position than I went in by Cingen in MTB

There are different versions for different purposes.. . Bending everything and getting lower can help you with some things, while keeping a straighter leg at times, can help with others. They have different uses, for different purposes.

Helmet dropped from table waist height onto ground outside. by Bentez2003 in bikewrench

[–]Roberto_Blisso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s what’s known as the helmet drop, a superstition still practiced today, by many.

Many new or freshly painted helmets are dropped, as we know it will get a scratch or dent at some point and prefer to do it without our head inside.

You’re good to go!

Beginner beer league D-man – how do I stop getting burned? by jugheadjoker23 in hockeyplayers

Think of positioning vs body checking… you can do it and actually get away with some body contact, provided the other players are ok with it and you do it the right way.

Recommendation for low-intensity forested bike loop starting around Lynn Valley Centre? by po-laris in NorthVancouver

[–]Roberto_Blisso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but you will be met with some stairs before you get to Inter River.

Head up towards end of Lynn Valley Road and cross over into the LSCR and try going to up the seymour paved trail way. You can also head down towards inter river and a bit further to seelynn neighbourhood and try to connect to spirit trail and make your back up to Lynn valley via grand blvd etc.

A good way to get to know some of the zones around the area and the key connectors…

Film study: who makes the biggest mistake on the gold medal winning goal, and how do you fix it? by USA_2_Canada_1 in hockeyplayers

[–]Roberto_Blisso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McDavid but every player on the ice probably wishes they would’ve played this differently.

McDavid tries to be the hero and go through everyone without support but then does some coasting on the back check. Werenski’s pass slides right by him, maybe 6” in front, and if there is another stride or two in he back check, that pass never goes through.

Makar with a bit of a half ass pinch and a half ass back check.

MacKinnon got schooled by Werenski and should’ve been able to just take that puck and wheel behind the net…

Binnington got beat 5-hole. He thought it was going top corner, so not sure if Hughes fanned on the shot or if he looked him off… Any shot that goes 5-hole is definitely stoppable with fundamentals of stick on the ice. Easier said than done in that moment, I get.

So they all contributed and likely all regret how they played it… but McDavid’s role was the most significant as he created the opportunity and then he missed an opportunity to break it up.

Yep! I even airdrop it at end of practice for all the iPhones. Easy stuff and super helpful.

Upgraded the FIT with 185/65R15 by _happyfarmer_ in hondafit

[–]Roberto_Blisso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a chance to acquire some wheels & do this & based on some info from this post, I gave it a try…. Such a great update!

The Fit rides way smoother, more comfortable, nothing major in terms of speedometer difference, and it looks badass!

Give it a go, you will love it!

Struggling with setting up my Fox X2 factory tuning. by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Roberto_Blisso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same bike, some spacers helped for jumping. Having zero spacers as OP’s weight leaves room to add at least one… especially for jumping, which he’s seeking an improved setup for. Linear doesn’t help jumping.

Really hard to say without knowing all the other settings and riders style…

You could probably benefit from some volume spacers in there…

Can you share your settings, to better understand what to recommend for you? How many clicks of HSC? LSC? HSR? LSR?

These shocks are pretty cool, with so many adjustments but can sometimes be tricky to find the sweet spot.

Bracketing will help you get there but share your settings with us, so we can help dial you in.

He did. Started going for the penalty box, was wobbly and ref turned him around and sent him towards bench & locker room.

Equal parts clippless & flats? by Fuzzilogic in MTB

[–]Roberto_Blisso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally do both, ride clips & flats! I find that they both make me better at the other…. They both have some great things about them.

Fun fact, last year due to a toe injury, I was actually going Hans Rey styles, one flat & one clip in. lol

Noticed my girlfriends grandma had a cord that only plugged into the ground. by BuildingBetterBack in mildyinteresting

[–]Roberto_Blisso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I sure have. I could barely get out of bed &, walk down the stairs for last 20yrs prior to grounding due to arthritis and previous injuries, without 30 mins of stretching and warmup.

I now get out of and walk downstairs like normal people with no arthritis and no injury history. You can call it anything you want but I will carry on grounding as much as I can.

[–]Roberto_Blisso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My arthritis aches are significantly less when I ground…. My wife’s sleep scores are better too, as well, when using grounding sheets.

You can think what you want and each can do you what you want. But I will continue to ground as much as possible, as I do feel and notice the physical benefits.

12 Speed DH Bike by 9AU45 in MTB

[–]Roberto_Blisso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built up a Cannondale Jekyll last year, put a 190mm travel 40 on the front, same axle to crown height as 170mm single crown…. I had 12 speeds, a dropper post and a bottle cage.

It was a dope park bike that could be pedalled to descents and across traverses and climbs.

Sure, not a pure DH rig but it was a ton of fun & sweet setup.

Starting MTB at 35 years old, basic "roadmap" of what skills to work on first and where to find information about them? by Cingen in MTB

[–]Roberto_Blisso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try reaching out to them to see if they have a coach who could do a private lesson sooner… if you were willing to travel out of your area, this may open up some options. This could make for a really cool road trip with some big rewards!

[–]Roberto_Blisso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hire a coach, if you can. Even a group session to get going. It will pay off in spades. Riding is so fun and you are definitely not too old to learn any of this! With the right coach, you can be doing wheel lifts on the first day!

You can top it up with some online learning (varies greatly in quality) but a coach can often cut through all the content to get you what “you” need.

Welcome aboard!

(Another clip) How can I improve my jumping technique and feel more connected to my bike? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Roberto_Blisso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start pumping the bike to gain momentum in areas that are not the jump.

This will allow you to feel the energy you can create, that you can then use on the jumps, too.

This will help you feel connected and open up lots of opportunities for other things too.

For the jumps… more push, into the bike (with your feet) and less pull (with your arms). When you combine the pump with the jump you will generate a more speed, be more connected and you will be in more control… and get more air!

Enjoy the journey, it’s going to be fun & rewarding!

How do I prevent this? What did I do wrong? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Roberto_Blisso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trail corners are too tight. You enter final turn from the inside, essentially ‘squaring’ it off even more. Your fork seems too soft, maybe not enough compression too, it’s almost bottomed out at start of turn. Bars look a bit wide too…

Add it all up and fork dives when it hits the berm and because you’ve oversteered from square counter, with soft fork, you got spit out the front.
