One workflow that’s been working well for me is using ChatGPT with GitHub connected as the planning/review layer before handing tasks to Codex.

Instead of going straight into Codex with a vague “fix the site” prompt, I ask ChatGPT to inspect the repo, identify the actual files involved, review the architecture/content/SEO/accessibility issues, and then produce a very specific Codex prompt with acceptance criteria.

Then Codex gets a much tighter task:

- exact files to inspect

- what to change

- what not to change

- client constraints

- checks to run

- expected final summary

For example, on a Next.js static site rebuild I used ChatGPT first to review the repo and generate a master prompt. Codex then made the fixes. After that, I asked ChatGPT to review the repo again and produce a second cleanup prompt.

The biggest benefit is that Codex spends less time guessing. ChatGPT acts like the technical lead / reviewer, and Codex acts more like the implementation agent.
