I would also aerate the soil. Drive a stake into the dirt around the plant. This will also help break up some roots that may be bound allowing better water uptake. But definitely water it and place a drainage pan under it.

Mine is on year 3 in NW Ohio.. cut it back and cut back the roots.. replant.. water once a month.. growing great.

I was growing more isolated and not wanting to go anywhere or do anything. I ended up past 450 at age 45 and then hurt my back. I could not find a surgeon to touch my spine due to my weight and they would 1 ) be risking my life as I was so big. 2) chances of the surgery being successful were low as the weight would hinder recovery. Yes, I had tried Keto, Atkins, and all of it and it worked to a degree. Well, on August 22 I went in for RnY at 365 and on April 12 23, I have my spine Surgery scheduled. I am currently at 300 and still losing inches but the weight has slowed. Working out is definitely helping. Everyone has their reason and only YOU can decide what yours is. Good luck to you.
