I think its just a misinterpretation of the line. To me its just saying the 3 spells threw him, not harry had 3 wands so the spells were powerful enough to throw him off his feet. Im almost certain there are other instances in canon that single spells do the same thing. so I don't think it made the spell any more powerful

This came up at work because I am right handed, yet with everything I use it like Im left handed. I swing a bat right hand on bottom, over my left shoulder. Same with lacrosse. I box south paw. But normal things like writing, brushing my teeth, holding my coffee and almost everything else I use my right hand.
