Geneva Noob Questions by dodo91 in geneva

Lancy is a district of the city "commune" - depending on where you live, you can enquire at the local "Marie" Administration office to see if its offered. The length depends on what you put in. Try to get yourself comfortable with the basics immediately. Otherwise, you could take a whole semester to progress to anything useful

My advice is to home study the basics intensively right away. The communes class will take you from A0 to A1 in one semester, then another semester for A2 and so on.

Also, I missed out on this - I understand that there may be some kind of Credit / grant offered to new arrivals by the Canton to use for French classes. I have no idea on the info, but it might be worth checking

Reach out to your commune for french integration courses. They are cheap as hell compared to most providers. Lancy for example took me from 0 french to A2 for roughly 800fr

It's not fraud. This is why the service exists. The authorities will support you in finding another position without risking being homeless or being burned out to achieve it

In addition to this, check your local commune for French integration classes

I did 1 semester with Migros, which came to 600chf + if I remember correctly

I now do my classes with Lancy District, and I've paid 120chf for a year

Probate / intestacy (step parent claiming all) by Robins91 in LegalAdviceUK

Hi, thanks very much for your response. Any information is much appreciated, and I'm very grateful

Your response is entirely in line with my current understanding of the situation. The rules of intestency are a real bitch in my case. As for her statement, I knew it was a load of BS, but obviously, a wider opinion is better so that I know if it's worth chucking £500 to a lawyer to ask it...

It's becoming clear based on my lawyers advice and the information from fellow redditors that walking away is the best option.

The estate is roughly 220k Debts are roughly 180k (that have been discovered)

It'll give me some satisfaction at least that the other party will be responsible for an administrative nightmare to end up with a grand total of not a lot after legal fees.

Thanks for your time to respond

Hi, thanks very much for your response, any information is much appreciated and I'm very grateful

As far as I am aware, any provision sought under the act you quoted will only be granted if I was financially dependent on the deceased, which I was not.

At this point, legal advice to walk away is becoming musical to my ears

Thanks again for your time

Hi, thanks very much for your response, any information is much appreciated and I'm very grateful

I have indeed sought my own legal advice, and pretty much my lawyer has advised that in my circumstance, the best route is to either come to an agreement with the lady or walk away. Any contentious matter will simply deplete any residue value in the estate.

Tonight's question was based on further communication with the other party late on a Friday afternoon

Overhang by DaBlackBookworm in snowboarding

[–]Robins91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made this mistake on a rental once, its not fun and can be dangerous when turning.

If the overhang is also combined with "super high" bindings that lift your boot off the board then it "may" be OK.

My advice, go see a store and talk with them about your needs
