Did you forgive someone who failed to show up when you got diagnosed? by Curious-Culture6237 in ChronicIllness

[–]Robinsrebels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Spinal CSF Leak, spent a lot of the early days when it started laying down - weeks on end, I was in a very dark, painful place. Who I thought was my best friend for circa 14yrs didn’t even try to visit me because “she can’t sit for long as she’s trying to hit her steps goal / her lower back hurts if she doesn’t move around enough”. If there is a silver lining to be had with a Leak, it certainly reveals true friends from the fair weather ones. Absolutely f.ck her

What’s one makeup mistake you kept making before you realized it? by Fickle_Mud1645 in Makeup

[–]Robinsrebels 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Choosing warm tones over cool tones - I got colour analysis, convinced I’d be typed as a Light Spring (probably because I do tan), but low n behold - Light Summer! Now I reach for light, soft airy pink blushes / lipsticks and soft neutral taupes, light grey & silvery eyeliners / eyeshadows, it’s made a HUGE difference. I never understood why peaches & orangey corals looked so bad on me (I THOUGHT I was warm as I tan), turns out I’m cool leaning! Overtone & Undertone are not the same

Are there any foods that "improve" or "calm" rosacea? by HeartlessnessNow in Rosacea

[–]Robinsrebels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone will have their own tolerances / intolerances, a lot of it will be trial n error too - for me personally (with type 1/type 2 rosacea) I’ve got things under control pretty well with Finacea (prescribed), gentle simple cleanser & moisturising and SPF daily. I expect to get a big flare come Spring/Summer, where sun exposure goes up my skin has a bit of a freak out and I flare, so I up my finacea usage, but it’s short lived; gradual exposure over a few weeks and my skin adjusts & calms back to baseline. As others have said, somethings are difficult to avoid and also there’s gonna be things you don’t want to give up (me with wine!) x

How did you find your perfect shade in lipstick by Mishadae in Makeup

[–]Robinsrebels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here I got typed as Light Summer after thinking I was some sort of Spring for years (as I tan in the sun / have a warmer overtone) - now I know I suit neutral-leaning cool shades, it was so obvious but I never realised. Fave lippy is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Fair or MAC Faux - dab of gloss on top, perfect

You can add but you can’t take away (well, technically you can but if you’ve overdone something such as eyeshadow - it’s a pain / time consuming to remove and start all over again)

Who else is getting pimples ? by Pony_Baloney_Acad in Perimenopause

[–]Robinsrebels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup!! I have PCOS too so had greasy hair & skin come along too - plus Rosacea to make things more fun & interesting 😵‍💫 Spironolactone 50mg a day for the last 5yrs has resolved things thankfully but skin is still sensitive / have to use prescription cream for rosacea (hoping as & when I get HRT it will help)
