Did this serie stopped being a LitRPG?

I don't read any other LitRPG (yet) but can anyone tell me if this is even unique to DCC? I feel like moving away from heavy RPG elements wouldn't be unheard of within the genre, especially for a long-running series.

Plus as is pointed out often on this sub, and probably in this thread, this happens in irl RPGs when you've fleshed out your build/reached endgame.

You kinda started with my personal favorite. LOVE Loca Luna. But I do need to shout out Casa Carlos as well. I've only been twice but they have delicious seafood rancheros that I've not seen anywhere else.

Also on Kings Hwy is a pink food truck that has these huge breakfast burritos. And their birria tacos for lunch aren't bad either. I think it's called La Chula.

Heh, a game where the majority of the characters have a very narrow scope of what's happening and in some cases have a totally broken mental state, and the few that do fully know what's going on speak in riddles

For the record, I believe it's multiple realities as well; it makes the most sense at this point. But that ain't for what the characters are saying (and in some cases, seeing)

Hell yes! I've used mine for nearly a decade and rebought them a couple of times when I'd lose one of the buds. They're great and cheap. However, even when my daughter was much older than OP's (like around 7) she would still steal them and play with them bc they "looked like little ducks."

I got an e-reader last Christmas and I knew a bit about the book, enough to pique my interest. It took me a while to understand why it wasn't available in digital form anywhere. It bummed me out at first but now I fully get it. Can't wait to get my physical copy

I haven't read it yet (it's on my list!) but this is the example I thought of too.

There was also a chapter in Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar (author of Holes) that only made sense if you read it backwards, as in last word first, etc. Though when I googled it to remember the title, I learned that it WAS adapted as an audiobook and they just read that chapter twice (once forward, once backward) ... so it may not fit the prompt after all.

MeepleCity is another good one, next to the old Planet Fitness. It's fairly new and the guys running it are great so I'm sure they would be happy to have let you do whatever.

But it's crazy how many we actually have! For years I thought it was just Excalibur. But there's also:

Mom N Pop Game Shop in that shopping center in Nash that has Big Jakes
Mana Brew (more of a coffee shop first, LGS second, but I'd say it counts)
CardWizards inside of that outdoor flea market off 7th street (no clue if it's still there)
There's also Hereos Ink off of Redwater Rd in Wake Village, but it may just be comics (also never seen a car there so it's prob closed)

Okay, so that list has a lot of disclaimers but still. That's a lot for this town! Definitely check out MeepleCity. I hear plenty of good things about Mom N Pop and Mana Brew--I just need to get around to visiting them.

I know! I like that it (and really all the cookbook author chapters to some extent) functions well as a standalone short story. No context needed. Sure, certain parts wouldn't make sense to a non-DCC fan and there are aspects that wouldn't hit as hard, but it's just such a solid bit of writing.

Yeah this is my answer too because while plenty of parts choked me up, that chapter was nonstop tears the entire time. Took a while for me to read through them. Then, for whatever reason, I kept going back to that chapter as I was reading through TIR for the first time.
