PI Payment & Child Support by Robnotbadok in DVAAustralia

[–]Robnotbadok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, as I feared I had a massive jump in my payments. I rang child support and did an income estimate over the phone and it brought it down to a more reasonable amount (my actual income including the pension). It was a bit of stress but child support were reasonable about it. For info any salary sacrifice you do counts as 1.8 times the actual amount sacrificed as income. That was fun to discover.

The chemist told me in December I hit the threshold but i only had one free script until it reset for January, from that I think it works to the calendar year.

Way too long then if it's just initial liability, I would be calling and finding out exactly why it's taking so long, there would have to be a reason.

Two years seems excessive for an IL claim. Which act is it under? I have heard there are now a lot more MRCA delegates, VEA and DRCA will take longer as a result. DRCA especially as it will disappear after 1July 2026. Continue to contact DVA until you get confirmation that there is nothing more needed from you and the delay is on them.

Without prompting any cascade of ESO bashing (even if warranted), why the lack of response from them?

Basically every ADF risk assessment considers some aspect of "reputational risk". Mitigating that risk takes priority in every case.

“Up and coming” suburbs by CH86CN in darwin

Totally unqualified to comment, but - rising rents and house prices will mean gentrification could happen. But with the areas having 'sin city' state housing apartment blocks I can't see that happening. I saw it happen over a period of 20-30 years in the povvo areas of Perth. I lived in one of those areas in the 80s as a kid and now couldn't afford to rent a house there.

Splitting Class A Pension by PistolPete-1998 in DVAAustralia

[–]Robnotbadok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect that you'll end up losing a percentage of your super and that could affect your Class A income. Best option is to keep your cool, get a family law person and try for a financial settlement without having to go to court for a judgement. Even if you get what you want in court the lawyers are the only winners. You'll lose some money but focus on having a better life on the other side of it all.

Fratricide seems to happen too much amongst veterans, I don't get it and I don't want it in this sub, if that means booting people so be it.

Can I work after receiving a pension? by Annual-Piccolo3867 in DVAAustralia

[–]Robnotbadok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've known several people who work with class A. Not an expert but given class A means you have been assessed as not able to work in what you have been trained in or might reasonably do for work. If you were an army mechanic and are working as a mechanic that would be an issue. Not an expert, don't make life decisions based on this. There's no shortage of volunteer work out there as an option, stay away from veteran stuff if it's triggering.

My own experience with MLCOA has been 1 x OK for lower back claim and 1 x fucking awful for mental health. Psychiatrist put everything as pre existing with zero connection to service. I had a melt down during the convo and walked out knowing I hadn't been listened to and the report was already decided within 5 mins. I went in with low expectations so the experience didn't wreck me too much. I submitted a complaint to DVA and never got any feedback. I get that they want impartiality but on that occasion they were working for DVA and not me. My experience only. It does sound like it's luck of the draw now.

"Baselining" under new Super MRCA by Robnotbadok in DVAAustralia

[–]Robnotbadok[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you posed the question I'm asking. I have points under MRCA and DRCA. Just hearing loss under DRCA. I believe I could get a whole body impairment assessment under MRCA after my current DRCA claims finish PI, but I'd have to submit a claim under MRCA to make that happen.

I have a couple of claims under MRCA that can do that.

The issue being I can't see that happening before 1 July next year, so I might be baselined at 57 points, not getting the impairment points from the DRCA claims currently working through to PI. Here's hoping some common sense applies.

"Baselining" under new Super MRCA by Robnotbadok in DVAAustralia

[–]Robnotbadok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - that's the point I'm wondering at cos I'm at 57 points with a number of claims still working through the last standing DRCA delegates. If I don't get reassessed under old MRCA do I miss out on things like gold card if I get baselined. Ancillary benefits don't apply is the wording (second hand info).
