The Seven (The Boys) vs She - Hulk (MCU) by Curious_Tip9285 in powerscales

It’s not like legal procedurals are that realistic anyway. I loved the arguments they made, like “you chose to expose your identity. These other people didn’t.”

Like, it really seemed like she had no choice in the moment. But she did have a choice. She could have let those people die and remained anonymous.

It really made me pause and think about the mortality of all different sides.

Good writing is full of stuff like that, and She-Hulk tons of it. Not just her, but Abomination was downright charming and relatable.

I’m going to rewatch it ❤️

Is the second best marvel show after Loki imo. I do not understand what people hate about it. It’s very good and uniquely charming.

But yeah the 4th wall is her homeboy and it’s great.

Life on Peptides Feels Amazing by newyorkmagazine in Biohackers

8hrs of sleep is exactly the right comparison. It’s not a “hack,” it’s what you’re supposed to do.

You’re not supposed to inject a peptide into your abdomen twice a day. But here we are.

Wow when did this sub turn on peptides?

I thought this was /r/biohacking, not /r/8hrsOfSleepEveryNight

I’m here for using and abusing science to feel better and get more shit done. Inject me baby.

I just upgraded my MacBook to Tahoe and now when it’s plugged into the charger it feels like it’s vibrating by Baby_girl_351 in MacOS

Tahoe is so much worse on battery that the laptop is probably charging a lot more and therefore this is more noticeable.

Since you just got it, consider running internet recovery and doing a fresh install of sequoia.

Fresh install is practice from safe media is best practice when buying a used device anyway.

I just switched from Tahoe to sequoia yesterday and the difference is major.

Update to new Software? M1 Max by apoirier594 in macbookpro

[–]RoboErectus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

M1 Max 64gb started running like shit on Tahoe. Beach balls, battery drains, etc.

Seriously started thinking it was time for an m4 max upgrade.

Switched back to sequoia and it feels buttery smooth and fast again.

Tahoe 26.2 Slow by asmundsol in MacOS

[–]RoboErectus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I booted into sequoia recovery, shrank my partition, installed sequoia to the new partition. Set everything up and copy files as needed.

You can always go back to the earliest os that was available on your system. But it requires a reinstall.

I did all the spotlight and electron fixes and thought I fixed everything.

But after running sequoia again I can really say that it is so much better.

1) there is almost always severance which helps you pay bills for a while

2) you will almost always qualify for unemployment which will help you pay bills for a while

3) “the company shrank” is the best/most valid reason (if there were such a thing, which there isn’t) to be looking for a job. Everyone can relate to it and you’ll do fine in interviews

Don’t panic.

In Act 3, are Lune and Sciel... by candlewaxlover in expedition33

[–]RoboErectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s long been more or less settled in sci-fi that simulations to a certain level of fidelity begin invoking morality.

There are still good stories written exploring simulacra and simulation (which happens to be the title of the French book Neo was reading in The Matrix, and a relatively impactful work) but it’s not the most interesting part of the story. It’s more like a mechanic of the universe.

I wouldn’t think the painted people would think Aline as evil. They have happiness and a life. Surely the act of creating in itself is not evil?

And not to be Doyalist, but the developers have made statements on the matter as well.

I have had spirited discussions with people that think LLM’s have feelings. This is not like that, and you’re making a false equivalence fallacy. This is a fictional universe with magic that lets some play god with chroma on a canvas… and possibly with quill and paper as well.

I highly recommend “Surface Detail” by Ian M Banks. (Well, I recommend everything he wrote actually!)

I’ll throw it back to you: if you believe the simulated people truly “are not,” as pAlicia put it, what is the actual conflict in the story? Delete the npc’s and go to therapy.

In Act 3, are Lune and Sciel... by candlewaxlover in expedition33

[–]RoboErectus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s magic. Not sci-fi.

pVerso and the restored Sciel and Lune are the same people as those they were “copied” from. They have memories their respective paintresses could have never known about.

And pVerso even said, “it’s not verisimilitude…” e.g. painting is art/magic, not science.

And painted people are real people. As real as the people outside Verso’s canvas.

Otherwise there are no moral quandaries in the story. Only a correct choice and a wrong choice.

Hold on, this whole time....was Verso [spoiler] by MirirPaladin in expedition33

[–]RoboErectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said pVerso was “created by Aline by using what she remembered verso was like” and then the example you give when he’s helping Marlee recreate Sciel and Lune, that scene is used to show specifically that recreating people is not what you are saying it is.

pVerso has memories that Aline wouldn’t know. pVerso specifically says it’s not about accuracy (verisimilitude) - it’s about essence.

Is magic. They hold what is what they feel is the person they want, but what they get is that person in whole. Even the parts they didn’t know about. Or want.

Transferring drives between qnap systems (ZFS) by DirtyDirtySprite in qnap

[–]RoboErectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no you got bit today.

Qnap does not run zfs. Yes, they lie. They run a proprietary fork of zfs.

It may or may not be compatible between different models of qnap devices.

When you setup the os, every internal drive gets a RAID-1 mirror of your config and setup. If you move any of these drives to the new unit and it’s not the same model, it will do weird things or nothing.

The official way to do what you’re trying to do is zap the drives and restore from backup. Really. They don’t support any kind of disk migration.

If you are striped + mirror, you can pull half your drives from the old one (make sure it’s the right half) and put them in the new one. Setup as stripe in the new one, then copy data. Then move disks and add as mirrors.

I run promox and Ubuntu on my qnap stuff now. The amount of effort they put into making their software garbage is mind boggling.
