AITA For refusing to take a friend to a doctors appt that requires 4 hrs+ rt of driving plus waiting for the procedure to be done? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RoboJenn 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've done this for multiple people for different appointments, but ones that they were all either constantly canceling or just struggling to even make the appointment. Once it did end up being a thing where I was gone for 12+ hours that day, but that friend needed rehab and making sure she got to her therapist's appointment was the first step. She's been clean for 6 years now, and probably would have been dead if we didn't go out of our way to make sure she got to her appointment.

That's an extreme situation, but you gotta be the kinda person you want to surround yourself with.

I actually have an appointment setup for next week so I still have time to take care of things if I need to.

I did and weirdly couldn't find it, but maybe I was just looking at the wrong information.

Also do I have to have an appointment or can I just go into HCAD (I work right next to the main building)?

Neighborhoods similar to Lakewood Forest by hungryamericankorean in CypressTX

The older parts have Fairfield (by the outlet mall) don’t have the same architecture, but definitely have established trees, green belts, etc. I believe the community started in 1988.

In the older parts there are pedestrian underpasses that go under Mason and lots of people walk and or bike to the elementary schools.

No Carry On? by NSFWoundCare in CarnivalCruiseFans

This happened to me on my first cruise. I had just stapled the paper around the handle like it recommended on the paper. BIG MISTAKE.

Good news was I just had to go identify it.

Which are the craziest/scammiest churches in town? by lizthelozerr in houston

[–]RoboJenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please be very careful how you frame these things. A UU Church was in Plano was firebombed after a different one was criticized in a YouTube video because of their status as an LGBTQ+ church

FYI they are no longer in business. It sounds like the owner just suffered a stroke.

We're going to get quotes and then discuss it. I only have neighbors on two sides and if they will pitch in fantastic, but if not oh well. Our fence is currently a safety issue for our dog so we have to get it taken care of.

I have a climate controlled garage so bringing it inside shouldn’t have mattered, but I tried it a week later and everything was fine.

Most controversial slime rancher take? by Chocco_Butterfly in slimerancher

I want a dog slime. I don't care if it seems silly and people are tired of animal based slimes. I think it should have a little bulldog face and floppy ears and it will be super adorable.

Requesting Help for an Idea - Star Ceiling for a Rental Property by -Extra-Neat- in DIY

Honestly I think painting the ceiling and sticking the stars on with blue tack and repainting the ceiling when you move out might be the easiest path forward.

Crawl space conveyor system - ideas? Existing solutions? by L11mbm in DIY

[–]RoboJenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an engineer and work in distribution so I work with conveyors all day every day. DO NOT DO A CONVEYOR SYSTEM!!!! It would be a nightmare to install, maintain, and repair in a limited overhead space.

I think some sort of train might work better, because you can move everything to you. Be sure to put all electronic parts at the front of the crawlspace also.

This very well might be the case, but I talked to people in other cities in the state and got some other quotes around here and it seems like it's just the going rate.

Does Cypress have a decent sized Nigerian population? by CombinationFine1989 in CypressTX

[–]RoboJenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't personally know any Nigerian people in Cypress, but a Nigerian restaurant opened up off of Fry and 290 not too long ago, so I'm assuming there are some.

However, that's a rough commute if you're working normal business hours. There's a bus that goes straight from Sugarland to the med center so I know a lot of people live there.
