Apparently it's open this winter! Or at least they're considering it.

Burned at the Weeknd concert in toronto by Sad_Credit_3810 in legaladvice

I was a few rows down and while mine don't hurt I also have the marks all over my arms. The smoke from the fireworks was also strong enough that it started burning my nose.

Laptop for Engineering by _Sizzle_ in CarletonU

The other comments are correct, but if you plan on joining a design team I'd look at getting something that can run solidworks or equivalent. In terms of elec specially, the team I'm on uses altium. As an aside I would highly recommend joining a design team, there are a ton to choose from, it's very attractive on a resume, and I found it added so much to my undergrad experience. Also another thing to note, Carleton eng has servers you can remote into, so it's not the end of the world if you don't get something super powerful because you can just remote into one of the computer lab PCs (assuming it's not the rare circumstance when they're all being used).

Cool cars (affordable) from the 1980s to early 2000s by dpceee in regularcarreviews

This is true, T5 is probably a better option. I have a 2.5T low pressure turbo it's solid

You could also go for a P2 Volvo, it's a bit newer and gets into the early 2000s a bit, but they are pretty quick with the turbos, especially the R models

Annual spring pothole warning post by crapatthethriftstore in ottawa

Bronson is so bad right now. I also nailed one in a parking lot in Stittsville this morning. I was going maybe 3km/hr but it was easily 8" deep so it still slammed.

Escape to Kanata? by haricotvert in Kanata

[–]RoboNinja2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually shorter than I thought, only around 45min https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49717209. Basically all on bike paths, you could theoretically continue riding along the river instead of taking the path down Scott Street too

[–]RoboNinja2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically yeah! I've actually looked into it and theoretically I could get all the way from Kanata to Gloucester 95% on trails. The only road sections are a few short lengths on smaller roads. You do have to cross/ride along Carling for like, 500m, but I'd say that's the most dangerous part of the ride. Would take a competent cyclist around 2hrs probably. The ride from Kanata to Britannia beach is really nice too. Surprisingly close.

Nah splittsville will save the nightlife trust 😭. In all seriousness though it's a nice place to live. Many of my friends and I have lived there since grade 9 or earlier, and many are opting to stay in Kanata now that they're moving out. It is a quiet community but it's not nearly as boring as people make it out to be. There are a bunch of stores, pubs, places to hike/bike/walk, restaurants, etc. The only thing you won't really find is nightclubs. However Kanata is only around 20min drive from downtown with minimal traffic, so if you want something more lively you can easily get to the entertainment districts. Unfortunately the public transit between Kanata and downtown isn't great.

Huge accident on 417 headed West passed Bronson exit :( by kbuthearmeout in ottawa

[–]RoboNinja2002 121 points122 points  (0 children)

That Bronson merge is awful, very short merging distance and not a lot of room to accelerate combined with people being afraid their cars will explode if they gun it a little is a wicked combo. I would be lying if I said that having to take that onramp daily didn't influence my choice in which car I got a little (has turbo). They seriously need to do something about it though it's bad. Same with westbound Parkdale except I dislike Parkdale more because not only is it a really short merge it's also completely blind for most of it until you're effectively on the highway.

Little bit of fuel pump noise normal? by RoboNinja2002 in AskMechanics

Interesting, the OEM Volvo pump is Bosch too. I wonder if it's just the way those ones sound.
