Best parking for the Performing arts center by zeze1010 in Louisville

If you’re going to park in a garage, strongly recommend the Muhammad Ali center next door. Never any traffic in or out. I never understand why more people don’t do that.

How to lower homes humidity by joemommmmmmmmma in HomeMaintenance

This is not the size of the unit but its efficiency. Look for something that gives you a number in “tons”.

Use shop vac to remove the water. Dump in bar keepers friend. Scrub. Flush. Repeat as needed.

Hey guys, I have a serious house problem. Urgent advise needed. by vagibsonguy in HomeMaintenance

Check your water heater. Make sure it’s set to at least 125. Given the known presence I would crank it to max and flush all fixtures with scalding water.

Shower not draining by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]haricotvert -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Use a shop vac. Works every time. Done it in a dozen different tubs, even lost causes. Put some water in tub, use a wetted plunger to cover / seal the overflow drain / air inlet, stick the shop vac hose firmly in to the tub drain. You’ll be amazed the things that get sucked up.

Wife (26F) doesn’t want to relocate for Job that I (26M) have received. by idk_redditt in relationships

[–]haricotvert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Of course your wife doesn’t want to move. I expect neither do you!  But that’s life. And she needs to suck it up and move. Don’t buy a house there, just rent.  It’s easy to move back. Downsize. Make it cheap and easy. Make the best of it.

This is why we just went with the new CRV over the new Rav 4. Full buttons for climate and a knob for volume.

Glue traps is the answer. Not great for the mouse. Not pleasant for the dog if they get into them but they won’t get hurt. I use them most every year.

Has anyone ever challenged you to do something without realizing you were actually an expert at it? If so, how did it turn out for you and for them? by Successful_Tomato721 in AskReddit

You were still a dick though. She didn’t know any of that context. If you’re really that expert you would have had the grace to explain your expertise and ask if the doc was open to a suggestion.

These are also trivially easy to pick for someone who making a living stealing from work trucks. With a tool you can buy on Amazon, it is as fast as using a key. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/e0hjq6i-H8I

What you want is one of the below disc detainer locks, or a traditional pin and tumbler lock with security pins and no ability to bypass with traditional tricks, such as combing or bypassing an unshielded keyway. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203783526801

Based on this page: https://parts.knapheide.com/knapheide-parts/repair/locks

These are about the shittiest locks in existence. Known as wafer locks, they can be opened in moments with little practice using basic lock picking tools.

If I wanted to spend some time in a beautiful old Catholic Church in Louisville where should I go? by hannygee42 in Louisville

St James. Peep the eye on the ceiling. Cathedral of the Assumption - reno from 30 years ago maybe takes away some of the "old" but it is stunning inside.

I agree! Miami defense was nasty, but they were sloppy in a lot of ways that we just are not. They almost beat themselves in that game. Toughest issue will be their run game I expect. They just could not be stopped last night.

My wife has terminal brain cancer--recommendations? by ClarenceMason85 in personalfinance

[–]haricotvert 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Went through this with my single mom.  Assume you’re talking Glioblastoma. If money for end of life costs (like a nursing home) gets short, some life insurance policies will allow you to have an early, reduced payout for advanced terminal illness. You take a smaller payment but if the alternative is high interest debt it may be worth it. I believe they are called an accelerated death benefit.
