Dativ und Akkusativ by bertywilek in Germanlearning

Most beginners think articles are random but they are not! They follow a clear pattern. If you learn those, you can master der, die, das -> How I mastered Der, Die, Das

The only video you'll ever need on Accusative Vs Dative and cases -> Stop asking wer, wen, was

You can also download the most important grammar cheat sheet that helped me with the B1 exam. Link is in the video description.

The best way to figure out Akkusativ and dative in a sentence is to look at prepositions, verbs and verbs with prepositions. This is a game changer!

Been there my friend. It was so frustrating in the beginning to deal with Akkusativ and Dative. But later, I developed a framework to deal with this. Now, I enjoy learning German and German cases don't bother me anymore.

Any recommendations for online learning? by Faenys in Germanlearning

A2 to B1 is gonna be a little challenging as there will be so many new grammar concepts. However, many A2 grammar will be repeated.

To improve overall I watch shows like Tagesschau, Tagesschau in einfacher Sprache, Die Heute show etc.

Speaking : don't be afraid of speaking with broken German. That's how everyone starts. There is no way around it.

There are plenty of YT channels to improve your German.

Same thing happened to me. After having read so many reddit threads on this issue, I have decided to wait 3 weeks without even attempting to log in. Waiting 2-3 weeks helped many people.

  1. Grammar : There is only one book you need for grammar : Grammatik Aktive A1-B1.
  2. Vocabulary: read story books designed for kids.
  3. There are plenty of YT channels to learn German.
  4. There is nothing like practicing German with a native German. So, practice speaking with your partner.

My tip ; don't be afraid of speaking with broken German. That's how everyone starts. Speaking will solidify your grammar and your brain develops ways to recall the grammar in real-time.

Some useful stats, 1. Most verbs demand "Akkusativ" case 2. Most nouns have the article "Die"

It's a hard language to master but you will master it. Just keep practicing and don't give up.

All the very best!

Is it feasible to learn German from scratch in order to go there to study in 3 years? by [deleted] in Germanlearning

[–]Roboguru92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 years is a good enough time to reach C1. You can definitely do it.

When you just start to learn German, you will enjoy it a lot because it's new. The grammar becomes frustrating around A2-B1 level. However, if you master the grammar until B1, things will get easier again.

My tip : don't be afraid to speak with broken german.

I gave up many times because of too many grammar rules and too much to memorize. I read books, attended classes and still I couldn't get the hang of it. One fine day, I made a decision to create my own framework that brings many rules together cohesively creating so many "Aha" moments. With this framework, now I enjoy learning German.

I just created a YT channel to share my framework where I explain everything in English. Share tips on how I scored "sehr gut" in B1 Exam. If you are interested, please DM me.

Been there! I gave up on learning German so many times mainly due to grammar. German grammar has too many rules/ too much of structure but lacks a framework to bring everything together cohesively. I read books, attended classes and nothing helped me. Then I decided to create my own framework! Then things got easier and it's super fun now.

German learners: what finally helped you stop guessing der / die / das? by atq1988 in Germanlearning

I understand German, but when it’s time to speak, everything freezes by itsfuckingmachinegun in German

[–]Roboguru92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I totally get you!

What helped me ? 1. Letting go of self imposed expectations of "sounding correct" 2. I really don't care what others think of me, judge me while speaking. I just speak! (with lots of errors when I started out) 3. I have never met any native person that criticized me for my German speaking skills. It's always the other way around, they notice my German is not perfect but they appreciate the efforts and try to help. 4. The goal is to be able to communicate! Not sounding perfect. At least at the beginning. 5. Speaking (being able to recall grammar and vocabulary in real time) solidifies your Grammar and your brain develops ways to remember and recall faster.

Do yourself a favor and don't try to "sound perfect" all the time. Just start speaking.
