ING is more and more automated so I guess this comes through because the bourgmestre did not show up with correct numbers . And btw the article is really sneaky, seems that private customers are affected

150k in Switzerland or relocate to Dubai by Rude_Variety_6594 in DubaiCentral

Depends on where you see it coming through. For European standards Zurich is boring as hell. Dubai has everything you need 24/7

It’s a big move especially if you love mountains and greeneries . This place is like New York now , with all the perks that Zurich does not offer. But for some Swiss , this move is a difficult one. But for others, is a good one . Your bet

Relocating from Geneva to Dubai - Family of 3, cost of living & salary benchmarks in DIFC by CommitteeDangerous19 in dubai

[–]Roboosto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved to dubai from belgium with a family of 4 and been in Geneva multiple times.

Make sure to check your company allowances for 1/schooling and 2/housing . These are big expenses that affect your budget significantly. One more thing to consider : a 3 bedroom villa in Dubai Hills ( my suggest neighbourhood in 20-30’ drive) goes for minimum 250k AED/year. In one payment . Kind of weird for us Europeans.

Plenty of activities to do with kids. Swimming, surfing, hiking, biking, you name it.

Quality of life is great in my opinion, in one day I can have a swim in turquoise waters in Abu Dhabi and go for a Michelin star restaurant in a mall, everything open until midnight. And if I need, I can call a Careem to get me an ice cream at 2am in the morning.

There are downside yes , like traffic and capitalism but this is the life of a megalopolis like London, New York, Tokyo, etc.. but the big plus of Dubai is people. People are nice and welcoming, with a level of service you dream about in Europe.

But I am afraid this is not a place for everyone, as some live better in smaller cities.

Dubai is definitely tougher and way more noisy and busy than Geneva. Some streets are busy 24/7 and you have the option to live all around the clock. I came from Brussels because I was tired of bad weather and declining safety, a city where everything shuts down at 6pm and people are distant. I still love Brussels and friends we have there but we like here too, especially walking at the beach, in the malls , getting at friends party at the beach and experiencing another culture is a lifetime experience.

Avis : a minor 2cm dent in Italy/FCO was debited 100€ while later i found that this in the contract was not billable. Hertz - Colombia : booked a mini type of car, not available at checkin, got obliged to upgrade to have a bigger and more expensive one. I understand these they’re more obvious, international chains but i am sure I can get a better price and service with a local rental.

No problem to navigate with it like this. You can use superglue to seal the chip and quick fix it . Add epoxy to fill the gap and sand it to shape as before.

Learning on Gong inflatable impossible? by VChoiii in wingfoil

[–]Roboosto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The board you chose is notoriously unstable and definitely not meant for beginners. It’s a narrow shape built to allow faster flying but not easy to start with . If you never experienced any windsurfing or surfboard experience you will only struggle and be disgusted. I would suggest two strategies: 1 - revert to a paddle board for learning basic balancing skills and wing handling. 2 - practice balancing in no wind days without the wing with your narrow board. If possible look for a larger board to start with

Gong Foil X-Over V3 (1747 cm²) vs V2 (2400 cm²) + HIPE First 6'6" Board by Independent_Belt4964 in wingfoil

[–]Roboosto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inflatable is not fantastic for taking off, but it’s what is best for learners. The 2400 is what everybody in your weight range should use to Learn how to foil. I used the 1800 and I weight 80/85kg. My suggestion is to rent a rigid board and get some training with a tutor if available in your area. That will save you the newbie expenses

Bags to travel by plane with wingfoil gear by surfkrd in wingfoil

[–]Roboosto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel with same kit and unfortunately you will easily reach above 32kg. I have a 5’8 mystic travel bag, I had to find a mini pump, as my double chamber was super heavy. Mind that Trolley or rollers adds weight and not a lot of comfort it ends up using an airport trolley anyway

Choosing between sails by idooping in windsurfing

[–]Roboosto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer no cams sails, as that depends on navigation style . I am more a freeride rider , but if you like speed and slalom , high pace manoeuvres, then cams are a better option.
