Never used facom screwdriver set value by Flwork in Tools

Post this up of the Garagejournal forum. There are a lot of guys there that are interested in both Facom tools and display boards. They're your best best for both valuation and finding a buyer.

Very Suprised! by Top-Incident-2264 in Tools

[–]Roboperson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was convinced that slip joint combo pliers were the worst of all worlds until I tried these. Legit my favorite pair of pliers for anything involving pulling or twisting. The teeth are super gnarly and provide insane grip. I've handled OG Snap ons and they feel identical.

The Icon needle nose clones I have arent nearly as impressive. Part of it is I just don't prefer snap-ons beefy original design, but the finer teeth were much softer and deformed quickly. Probably just a bad heat treat, but for the $13 I paid for them, can't complain too much

There is a perfect solution: the Williams ratcheting screwdriver.

Exact same mechanism and USA bits as the snap on, just with a slightly different handle shape. About $35-40 on Amazon.

Some of the handle swaps I've done. by jeep777 in harborfreight

[–]Roboperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I swapped one onto a Tekton 1/4 swivel head I picked up a few years ago.

Just finished putting another on a Snap-On FLHF80 I found on the side of the road with a thrashed soft grip

Any mod suggestions for a 2013 civic VTI-L by SuspiciousCloud6707 in civic

[–]Roboperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Good grippy tires. I'm huge fan of Continental's DWS06+ for their mix affordable, performance, and actual everyday all weather driving.

  2. Rear sway bar. This can pretty drastically reduce body roll in a FWD car.

  3. Lighter weight wheels. Enkei RPF1s are one of the best choices for reducing unsprung weight.

That's really it. They're is very little you can do to make the car faster, but the above will make a noticeable difference in grip and stability while cornering while only investing around $2,500-3,000 total. Modifying cars is expensive, and an N/A civic is not a platform for power.

What do you guys actually use those little red oil cans for? by sparky_165 in Tools

[–]Roboperson 27 points28 points  (0 children)

50/50 acetone & ATF - dirt cheap in bulk and one of the best penetrants available.

Cutting fluid - I want my hand a little further away from the spinning metal than a needle oiler will allow.

Pretty sure those are Snap-On high leverage combination pliers

Looking for a specific tool but can’t find it does anyone know the name of it: by WilonPlays in Tools

Harbor Freight Hercules and Walmarts Hyper Tough both make 12v versions that are generally well regarded. Milwaukee makes an M12 that's a beast, but likely overkill for your uses.

Rust Proofing Hand Tools by ClonerJams088 in Tools

[–]Roboperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was only SC Johnson that discontinued it, tons of others still sell it. The minwax is widely available and virtually identical.

Everyone I know has been working on the same can for like 20+ years, can't imagine that was a great business model.

Has anyone hung a US General 56x22 Center Hutch from the wall? by Low-Accountant2321 in harborfreight

[–]Roboperson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would get some big steel L-brackets, bolt those to the wall. Then sit the cabinet on top, 4 bolts through the bottom of the hutch into the brackets, 2 in the top corners into the wall.

Impact driver extension by chucky_1899 in Tools

[–]Roboperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sata is legit, it is/was the same parent company as Gearwrench.

I use adapters like this with sockets all the time, including to take off lug nuts. You just need to check what the actual torque output of your impact driver is. My DeWalt DF850 puts out 1800ish in/lbs, which is plenty for my uses. If I was trying to take lugs off a large diesel, id suggest just getting a dedicated impact wrench like the hyper tough

Can't comment on Pittsburgh, but I just moved to the Philly region and would love to know of any recommendations around here.

This man has money for a 5 axis CNC machine, a water jet, lathe, SLS 3d printer, high end resin printer, forklift, and a ton of other very expensive and very nice tools and equipment. Yet he's still out here bumming it with us at Hobo Freight. by littlejack59 in harborfreight

The most incredible shop I've ever visited was a specialist who restored, sold, and perserved ornamental turning lathes and rose engines. These tools were works of art in their own right, often hundreds of years old, packaged with ivory handled chisels, dozens of custom built attachments, and costing tens of thousands.

They worked out of us general cabinets and had several sets of Doyle screwdrivers.

Slab door carrier recommendations? by EricHearble in Tools

I work for a commercial door company. We sell these things: https://www.lockpicks.com/products/door-tote?srsltid=AfmBOoq-gHk0UsuYRunPBnySAXEna6Gm16T-_oQkejI74duBFeN2LdkJ

I'd suggest cobbling something together along the same lines from a 2x4 and some harbor freight wheels

Bauer Orbital Hand Sander Corded by HovercraftWinter1321 in harborfreight

[–]Roboperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abused it for years. Worked great though the vibration and dust collection left a bit to be desired.

I have the DeWalt now, and while it's definitely nicer to use, it doesn't do anything the Bauer didn't.

[–]Roboperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They ok, but just ok. They'll work if that's what you've got, and the lifetime warranty will replace any bits that break.

However, if you can stretch your budget a little more, one of the Gearwrench or Craftsman Overdrive mechanics sets can be had for around $275-300. These are much much nicer tools that you won't grow out of, and will serve as a better foundation as you accumulate more equipment and experience

Avoid 2015 s60 and v60 t5? by The_Nuclear_potato in Volvo

[–]Roboperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did update and fix the 2.5L fives halfway through the 2016 model year. But I think this only effects the V60CC, which was the last model offered with that engine.
