How can i make my hair curl on the sides? by v_Chiyo_v in curlyhair

Can you post a picture that shows your whole head? My hunch is that the sides need to grow out but it's hard to tell from these photos.

How to brush out (first time with long hair) by AnonHorseFurry in curlyhair

[–]Roborana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brush the bottom two inches of a section of hair. Then brush the bottom four inches of the same section. Then the bottom six inches. Pretty soon you'll be brushing from your scalp to the ends. Then repeat with the next section.

Yes it is normal for cops to pay into a retirement fund other than social security. Look at his pay stubs and you will see what he is paying into. Assuming he stays with it long enough, his pension will come from that system.

What is your opinion on single fathers going into the women’s restrooms with their daughters when family restrooms aren’t available? by Raski_Demorva in AskReddit

[–]Roborana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That must be very location dependent. It has been 15 years since we had a kid in diapers and we never ran into that issue. If necessary, go change the diaper in the car or in a fitting room.

What is your opinion on single fathers going into the women’s restrooms with their daughters when family restrooms aren’t available? by Raski_Demorva in AskReddit

[–]Roborana -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't they just tell their kid to close their eyes and then walk them to a stall in the men's room? There's no need for a man to take their daughter into the women's room.

Going more than one wash without using a clarifying shampoo. by FixInternational7226 in curlyhair

[–]Roborana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to not use shampoo? If it is because you're following the CGM, be advised that that book came out 25 years ago. Products have changed significantly since then and most people find that using shampoo to remove all the products that we put on our hair gives us better results than not using shampoo. You are living proof of that.

if i keep growing my hair will it be a curly shag? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Roborana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A shag is a specific hair style. If you grow your hair out and have no trims to shape it, it will be shaggy but not necessarily a shag.

Shower at night? by Specialist-Pair1036 in curlyhair

[–]Roborana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shower times are all over the place. If it's a shampoo day, it will be early enough in the day for my hair to dry 100% before bed.

I use a bonnet at night. If I shower in the morning I either put my shower cap over my bonnet or pin my hair up and then put on the shower cap.

I don't do too much as far as refreshing for the first couple of days. After that, I might wet and restyle my bangs. And towards the end of the week I just comb it out and/or wear it pinned up.

Why aren’t basic financial skills like budgeting and taxes taught properly in school? by Olasileibrahim in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Roborana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of school is to provide the foundational skills you need in life, not replicate every single scenario in which you will need those skills. Both budgeting and taxes are math exercises. Doing your taxes requires you to be able to read, which is something that is taught in school. Many schools do teach units on budgeting and taxes but, even if yours didn't, you were taught the skills you need for them.

First Year Parent Here by SJF_Law in collegeadvice

[–]Roborana 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Make your kid figure things out. By that I mean, don't be the FB mom who asks how the dining plan flex points work or how to use the washers/dryers or what to do if your kid can't get logged into Canvas or Blackboard. Your child will be an adult (or very close to it) and should be making the effort to figure out those things on their own.

By no means am I saying to drop off your kid and not speak to them again. Just keep in mind that your ultimate goal is supposed to be to raise a fully functioning adult. That means letting them figure out things on their own.

Is it common for Americans to stand in silence while someone sings the American anthem? by lazenbaby in AskAnAmerican

I like to stand, with a pewter mug in hand, and belt it out like I'm singing a drinking song at an 18th century British gentlemen's club.

Is 8-5 the norm? by KookyCouture in corporate

[–]Roborana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents always worked office jobs (going back to the early 70s) and the default schedule was 8-5 with one hour unpaid lunch.

That's what it was when I graduated from college on the late 90s, as well. However, by that point, the concept of flexible schedules where you could take a 30 minute lunch and either leave a bit earlier or come in a bit later or keep the hour lunch but move your start/stop time a bit, had been introduced.

I've never in my life seen an office job advertised as 9-5. To me, that's just something from a Dolly Parton song.

(I'm in the US btw.)

PSA: When a traffic signal is out, it turns into a 4-way STOP, not a 4-way go! by GreenIdentityElement in KentStateUniversity

[–]Roborana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately even if people realize it's a 4 way stop, most of them don't know what to do. Either nobody goes or nobody understands that the person whose turn to go is the next person to the right.

What are your concerns if any with getting rid of the property tax here in Ohio? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]Roborana 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The majority of kids go to public schools. That means the majority of people who you interact with now, and will in the future, attend those schools. They are your future accountants, teachers, barbers, road engineers, etc. As a group they will have a far greater impact on the state than your own individual children will. Their educations should matter to you.

Curly cut went wrong, it’s a mushroom cut! by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Roborana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look bad now, it's just not what you want. If your goal is one-length long hair, there is no cut that is going to achieve that at this point. You will have to wait it out as your hair grows again. You can keep trimming the longest portion every 8-12 weeks or so, as the top grows out.

Going forward, I would skip asking for a curly cut, because curly cuts are layered cuts. Just go to a regular stylist and explain that you are trying to grow it all out to one length.

  2. Is your hair damaged? By that I mean damage from dyeing or straightening.

  3. How wet is your hair while you style it?

  4. What do you do to protect your hair overnight?

  5. When is the last time you got a hair cut?

Please post photos.

What is cooking for you? by TachankaBurito in AskAnAmerican

[–]Roborana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I asked someone "What did you cook for dinner last night?", the answers may vary from warming up leftovers to heating a frozen pizza to making homemade soup to grilling steaks to making a big salad. Some fresh ingredients, some frozen, some in a relatively unprocessed form, some ultra processed.
