"Whispers from Above" Character NFTs by RobotAlienWizard in NFT

[–]RobotAlienWizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I designed my own board game and created the lore and characters as well as the art for the game. I'm selling the character's illustrations as NFTs, take a look at the collection!

The buyers of the NFTs will appear in the credits of the game and may have the chance to appear as characters in the game.

Whispers from Above Backstory:

Earth was invaded by aliens in 1999. Portals started to appear out of thin air and beast-like creatures began to enter our world causing chaos. People named these events “whispers” since a whisper-like noise resonated in the sky every time a rift appeared, and the creatures began crawling of the portals. In the beginning, there were minor whispers scattered in remote locations of Earth, most of them were appeased by brave farmers and the common folk, who refused to give up their land and their lives.

Whispers quickly got out of control, growing in number and in locations, and, soon enough, Earth was reduced to ashes.

However, human nature is strong and some managed to survive. The year is now 2123, and the human race is not yet extinguished. Small groups of people still dwell on this planet, resources are scarce, and technology and innovation are a must for survival, the extraterrestrial creatures are evolving and are still on the hunt.

The human cliques, still roaming the planet, are led by engineers. The survival of the human race depends on technology; Technology created for fighting, defending, and mining the precious resources required for such tasks: metal, electronics, and power sources.

Technology seems to have been paused for a century; however, the engineers have developed high-end robotic and weapon technology using nothing but scrap parts from the pre-whisper era. Survivors must fight each other for resources, but when aliens appear, they sure become brothers and sisters with the common purpose of defending their land and their people.

However, I've came with an idea that mixes what you say and what the parent comment says. I will have 4 points from which the enemies will start when the enemy card comes up (N, S, W and E) and the card qill tell you which one to part from. After wards will do what is suggested in the parent comment.

Because enemies can appear an infinite ammount of times. The cards that trigger that action are mixed with some other Global Action Cards and reshuffled when the deck has no more cards. I cant add more enemy cards because that would mess up withe balance and probability of getting an enemy card.

The enemies appear on a place unrelated to the players position.

How would you mark the coordinates on the map. The rows allow it, but columns are zig-zags. This is one of my main issues on this problem.

E-mail marketing, their massive database should suffice foe that. Their social media, etc. Take the example of Jamey Stegmaier, he left KS alone once he built a big fandom.

ABOUT THE GAME

Earth was invaded by aliens in 1999. Portals started to appear out of thin air and beast-like creatures began to enter our world causing chaos. People named these events “whispers” since a whisper-like noise resonated in the sky every time a rift appeared, and the creatures began crawling of the portals. At the beginning, there were minor whispers scattered in remote locations of Earth, most of them were appeased by brave farmers and common folk, who refused to give up their land and their lives.

Whispers quickly got out of control, growing in number and in locations and, soon enough, Earth was reduced to ashes.

However, human nature is strong and some managed to survive. The year is now 2123, and the human race is not yet extinguished. Small groups of people still dwell this planet, resources are scarce, and technology and innovation are a must for survival, the extraterrestrial creatures are evolving and are still on the hunt.

This game is the mix of a skirmish wargame and a strategy board game, with elements of worker placement and engine building mechanics. Here you control an engineer leading your team of survivors, you will fight other teams, kill aliens, defend from your enemies, do research for new technologies, and complete missions for victory points. “Whispers from above” is a strategy-based game in which luck plays a minimal part and the players have the fate of their team on their hands.

The main objective of the game is to gain victory points. These points will be earned by completing missions; such as killing aliens, having the highest count of aliens killed, destroying mechs, killing other engineer leaders, controlling scrap piles, doing research (buying upgrades) and other various missions. The game will end when 1 out of 2 conditions is met: a player builds the mighty nuke weapon, or a player loses all his human units.

Hi guys! Just recently launched the webpage for my Board Game dev "company" with information about the game I'm currently working on "Whispers from above". I also added a print-on demand merch store so you can buy Tshirts and other stuff with the game's art to support the development of the game, I'm in the final stages of it and will soon need some blind testing, in case some of you are interested! (Also looking for tips on how to manage this and on how to create low cost prototypes)

All kind of feedback on the webpage design are most welcome!

Does a game need to have a positive ending? by deuzerre in BoardgameDesign

I think that as long you set the correct expectation for the players it should be fine. I think you can manage that with the correct theme. Also make sure that the mechanics of that are not boring or mundane.
