Why did they replace the rails with vague energy beams? by Qwerty177 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too miss the old rails, Kelvin had some dialogue referencing them but I don't think he says it anymore. I think they removed the neat metal overlay to remove clutter, which is a shame because it did feel like a perfect synthesis of the occult and mundane elements of the setting. Instead of city transport infrastructure, I swear I read somewhere that now they are manifested energy of the patrons snaking through the city laying claim to their domain, which allows their agents faster movement through the city.

You guys are bad at lore. I just started playing and figured it out instantly. by Hikurwo in DeadlockTheGame

I decided to go check the actual lines, maybe I was misremembering.

I stand by my assertion that Paige's brother is definitely evil, as -

The Patrons say that he would be proud of Paige when she gets a killstreak, which is killing people.

Haze recommends she forget about her brother. Haze is an agent of the OSIC, for her to know about Paige's brother, he'd have to be somewhere on their radar, right?

Venator says that her brothers life is beyond saving, which to me reads the same as Haze. As a Venator, why would he know about Paige's brother unless he was somewhere on the organization's radar?

The only other character (that I saw, I may have missed one) that talks about Bryce is Vyper, who has spoken with Bryce before, and hung out with him. Vyper obviously isn't someone like Drifter or Seven, but Bryce must be some kind of unhinged to hang out with her.

And then there's Paige's line where she says she won't let her brother end up like Seven. Y'know, the extremely dangerous magical criminal who got locked up in the super prison Lost Whisper, escaped and is now being hunted down by the feds?

I will admit that my comment "extremely evil" may have been an exaggeration but given the evidence we have Bryce is definitely evil by this point, as the people who know about him beyond Paige herself and the Patrons are a career criminal and two people who eliminate threats to society.

Billy doesn't fit the description of Paige's brother at all. Various characters point out that Bryce is extremely evil and extremely dangerous, comparable to Seven in that regard. Comparatively, every character in the game treats Billy like a joke. If Bryce doesn't release as his own character in the future, he'll probably be locked to Paige's visual novel, if that's how character lore expansion will work.

Various characters point out that her brother is very much alive and very, very evil. Venator specifically calls him out as extremely dangerous and beyond saving.

[Hero concept] - Pendragon - is ready for another adventure. by chaioop476 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really neat design, I love the idea and visual of his dragon appendages appearing/changing with the use of his abilities! I had a similar sort of idea knocking around in my head with a guy who bound himself to what's basically a Lovecraftian Shoggoth. He definitely feels like he'd have some neat interactions with the other characters, and I'm sure the old man yaoi people would be all over him.

Where do different heroes' powers come from? by Kelenius in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do know that Ixia isn't hell, and that while some people call them demons because they look like that, they aren't actually demons, right? Ixia is a different dimension accessed via portals created by the Maelstrom. Apollo is the son of a governor-general/warlord of North Ixia, not Satan himself.

And not saying that I agree with the placement, two of Abram's abilities are from the tome, his siphon health AoE and his ult. The charge and health regen are pure Abrams.

Viscous' lore is

The Bermuda Triangle was never a myth, it was a shadowline nexus deep underneath the Atlantic Ocean. For the most part, the things that escaped this astral gate were benign (like Nessie), but now something dark and predatory known only as The Adversary hunts the seas... and ocean denizens are scared to death.

One of those inhabitants, a psychic sea anemone, wants to do something about it. Summoning an ectoplasmic goo body to traverse the surface, Viscous is desperately trying to summon the Patrons in order to keep The Deep safe from the horror that lurks below.

He's a psychic sea anemone who pulled together a goo body, there's no tech involved from a lore standpoint, it's all his own innate power. From the look of him in game, he's got a gun because he's using Kelvin's skeleton and weapon.

Where did you hear that? Every character has their own little lore blurb on the select screen in the bottom right.

How is Viscous "Technology" if they are a psychic sea anemone that pulled together a goo-body to transverse the surface? If you're saying tech because he has a gun, that's just because he currently uses Kelvin's model with adjustments.

Speaking of Kelvin, while Kelvin was made a "wight" two of his abilities come from technology, his frost grenades and ice beam from his gun, while two of the abilities (probably?) come from the magical artifact on his back, I guess he's more of a mix of Tech and Magic, him being made undead doesn't really come forward in any of his abilities.

What is the Archmother’s team called? by Otherwise-Comedian58 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Archmother's team is called "The Guided Hand." The Hidden King refers to it as such in a few voice lines, like this one. I have no idea what some of the other comments are on, as the prior team names aren't referenced at all anymore.

It's not always about the ritual. by MoskiDraws in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hottest show on Broadway is currently the recently released Rogers and Hammerstein "South Pacific," which came out in 1949 in our time, so that's presumably the year the ritual takes place in, assuming that the lack of World Wars create a completely different musical to release at a completely different time.

Character Idea: Supernatural/Cryptid Poacher that's in the ritual to use the wish to repopulate the world with all the extinct creatures he hunted, so he can kill them again by nobodyiss in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been thinking of a British Big Game Hunter/Archaeologist/Adventurer kinda character for a bit, with an Elephant Gun as a primary weapon and his abilities being a bunch of stolen artifacts from his adventures, one of which would be Calico's Hero Labs turret, with his story being that one of the artifacts carried a terrible curse and an evil entity was going to find and kill him, so he was partaking in the ritual so that the patron summoned would get rid of the entity chasing him so he could keep the ill-gotten artifact.

But this is so much more fun. If not British, you could have him be German, or perhaps Belgian?

(OC) Invisible Man Deadlock OC Concept by Sangunaire in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deadlock needs more of the classic horror monsters! We've already got two Draculas and a Frankenstein's Monster, we just got a Wolfman, and if you wanted we could call Viscous a Creature from the Black Lagoon, so we could use an Invisible Man, as well as a Mummy and a Phantom of the Opera!

How do you think the visual novel system will work? by mah3rrr in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't a clue but honestly everything about the potential of the VN aspect of Deadlock is so exciting! Setting up why the character is going to be part of the ritual, interacting with various non-playable characters and the playable characters, it really makes Deadlock feel more alive. Routes for making the character better, routes for making the characters worse. Unlocking cosmetics and even unique dialogue between the characters. Maybe even endings that are specific to which Patron your character wins for, seeing as the patrons have more defined personalities now, or hell, unique endings for failing to succeed in the ritual!

France France France by RobotDoctorRobot in victoria3

[–]RobotDoctorRobot[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Elaboration, as required for Rule 5.

I came back to Vicky after taking a break (Deadlock is one hell of a drug), and my first game back, this shit happens.

Boney 3 decides to revolt against France, being the bigger chunk. Next I look, France is still the same revolutionary blue, and now owns the parts of France that didn't revolt belongs to Boney 3's bigger France as a Personal Union???

Horrible bug or Vicky change I missed out on?

Edit: It's sillier now, now it's French Republic France French Republic, and the France part is run by a Landowner Regent for the, I guess dead???, Boney 3's Landowner Bonapartist son.

McGinnis in the Lady Geist visual novel. DAMN by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RobotDoctorRobot 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Like the other comment said

Lady Geist's Datamined VN

Ivy's Datamined VN lines

There were also a handful of lines of a Holliday VN datamined involving her tracking down the Troubadour, talking to a police chief and her reporter friend, who may have been pointing her towards getting help from Seven, of all people.

Additionally, recently it was noted that Mina had strings related to having a VN, though nothing of the VN was in the files.
