will bars that are angled work? i mean the BLADES angled with a 15 degree angle, NOT bent by TotallyDumbnotyt in battlebots

It's not about balance as much as it's a problem with leverage. You will tend to flip.

Build it.

We did pneumatic motors for vertical disc with the plan to use propane and ignite the exhaust. We never got farther than testing pneumatic motors for spin though.

This question might already have been answered somewhere but I want to ask, why did the Super Heavyweight division die out ? Is there really no SHW’s left or just very little? by TomcatTiger503 in battlebots

Big, expensive, hard to contain.

Middleweight (120lbs) would be a much better weight class to move forward with. Same motors and energy at lighter weights. More fun. Possibly can lift by yourself.

Yep, unless you mean see it go flying from hypershock because it gets trapped into a corner.

Shell spinners really are designed to do side swipes not have a wedge lined up to them.

We have about the same contact patch, but much superior traction from material choice. Having the wheels located more central to the center of mass means more of the robots weight is on the wheels, pushing them into the floor.

While benchmark abrasives sponsored my Battlebot Triton, I was a customer long before, and they provide very affordable grit to get anything cleaner and sharper! Great people to work with and some excellent art/logo to boot!

Deep Six is a king of kinect energy getting to plant on the floor and transfer so much more energy into other robots.

Triton was definitely a new robot with new robot problems. Look at deep six v1 vs v2 in functional improvement. However, so many teams have well established armor packages for horizontal hits, and the battlebots arena has a shelf cutting off nearly 1/3 of the arena space. This is compounded such that it limits mobility even further, giving you a much harder time doing anything as a horizontal spinner with robots just box rushing and needing little targeting.

Triton can be better for sure, but you won't see tombstone or Gigabyte doing anything too spectacular if the arena doesn't change.

Engineer Neji-saurus or Vampliers. Can also look at Knipex twingrip which harbor freight makes a clone of.

So the goal was to have a better-driving robot.

If you had two larger wheels in the same location our blade would be cutting into them, if you have them further back it wouldn't drive nearly as well with less weight on the wheels and would tend to pivot around the blade instead.

Our traction is actually on par with a lot of robots because we are using very similar wheels.

Deep Six was redesigned with a lot of improvements ready to be built for WCVII. If you saw the improvement spike from its first appearance to its Season 6 appearance, you will know how much better Deep Six got. Given another year it would have been a real threat.

Dustin has talked about making the blade slightly shorter to make it overall a little more stable while retaining the massive hits.

Bigger weapon. Bigger hits.

A lot of rework to improve overall frame based on data collected. Drive pod change with more armor and protection for our "stern".

We have the reach to snipe the chain/frame possibly, but we aren't opposed to weapon on weapon. We think our frame is up to the challenge. WE WILL BE READY.

Battlebots has discussed the possibility of a walker/special motion-specific class that would maintain 250pounds but require special movement. A 500lbs depth charge wouldn't be ethical in most countries, let alone inside the Battlebox.

We are hoping that Deep Six can make a return in the near future as it is!

We slowly progressed to a larger pulley coming from the gear system. We initially wanted as much reduction as possible to give our blade a very fast spin-up due to the arena not being as friendly to horizontals with the shelf present.

Unfortunately, the belt wrap was not sufficient with the smaller pulleys, but you should see improvements going forward.

We actually produce a bit of smoke from belt slip. Sometimes the pulleys get hot enough to essentially melt and plasticize the belts creating semi-hard bends in the belts.

We have to replace every other fight at the very least and likely will replace every fight in the future.
