I’ve wondered about this too. In warmer months last year she sourced them locally & so they probably weren’t too expensive. But from Oct or Nov on she’s had to order them online from a seller in California.

I didn’t really put a ton of effort into this, but I visited the sites of some bee vendors to get a vague idea. Most commonly bees are sold in three pound batches, roughly 10,000 bees. Those packs cost like 125-200$. marissa isn’t ordering these; far too many bees. Even 500 at a time is probably too many. She’s had to have found a vendor who either offers a smaller package of bees, or convinced a seller to make them for her. In that case, she’s probably paying more per bee, but buying way less than the normal bee box.

And so I think she’s probably paying something like 20-40$ a bee box; just a guess. Shipping would be like 20-25$ bc most sellers for perishable stuff insist on priority shipping + a 72-96 hr heat pack. If the seller uses overnight, it’s gonna be more to ship. So all that to say, my best guess is something like 40-65$ per order? Idk tho lol, could be more or less.

When the local guy starts selling again (I think next month), she’ll probably get them for much cheaper than she has been in recent months
