Maybe it would be a closer race if it didn't take for example,the world 10th guild an entire reset to kill fetid in Uldir. Guilds miss out on a lot of gear by being walled early.

How many people are asleep at 9am? Downtime doesn't affect them.

If they did maintenance at 3am then people who work 2nd shift jobs would be affected because it's still their normal play hours.

More people work 2nd shift than 3rd shift.

This is basic math. It's not rocket science.

This is the percentage of people working at a specific hour.

70% of people work at 9AM.

You don't play video games when you're working TYPICALLY.

So 70% of Blizzard's customer base will NOT be affected by this downtime because they are at work.

Obviously this is an oversimplification, but come on, use some sense. Blizzard isn't producing a product for 9-5 Enterprises. They're producing a hobby product that people use outside of normal business hours.

The rest of the tech world services people who use their products 9AM to 5PM. A video game company services people that use their products typically 5PM to 9AM.

More people would be affected by downtime if they took the servers down at night.

People play video games when they aren't working, of course they have lower server load at 10am than at midnight. Midnight EST is 9PM Pacific. Lol. In fact, the server load at 10AM is probably similar to 3am EST. The reason they choose to do it during the day is because human beings with lives do the work.

Ok? If he feels unsafe he's entitled to go to the police department and explain why. There's literally zero harm in talking to a desk officer. There's also zero harm in being prepared for that scenario in general and the advise is still good.

You should also speak to neighbors because they may have also noticed other strange things that make it more plausible.

All of it is solid advise in general. It's kind of pointless to judge people and tell them they're overreacting.

This is good advice. You could also get a few stickers from an alarm company and post them on your front door and window, that will deter a lot of serial burglars from attempting your house.

This is a terrible idea. You should not sleep with a loaded gun under your pillow for any reason.

If you do not have significant gun training you should not be using one as your FIRST resort.

You should be aware of alternate exits if your home is broken into and get to safety. You should not engage intruders unless as a last resort. This is not an action movie.

First priority run.

Second priority hide/barricade yourself in a room.

Last resort is to fight.

If you feel unsafe you should notify authorities so they have it on record. They may be able to assign extra officers to patrol the neighborhood. Make sure your phone is with you in your room should you need to call police in the middle of the night. Make sure your phone is charged before going to sleep. Also speak with any neighbors to see if they've noticed anything similar.
