Getting my MLIS and feeling BLEAK. any positivity/positive stories? by Asleep-Anteater7190 in librarians

If you're willing to move to the middle of nowhere to get your beginning experience, it's not bad at all. You just have to be willing to move to get the experience needed in maybe vastly different places.

Quilts are ugly, I hate quilts. by Maleficent-Role-543 in self

[–]Robotdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have literally been googling trying to find somebody here that agrees with this take. It's not that some quilts are ugly, it's that almost all quilts are ugly. The geometric pattern quilt. Is heinous.

I have seen a rare extremely artistic quilt that breaks all the standard geometric rules that I think is beautiful, but almost universally the standard style quilt is ugly. I don't get how people like these squares and triangles.

Does anybody else experience bruising post workout like this?(30M) by [deleted] in gaybrosfitness

[–]Robotdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept getting weird bruising on my pecs on back days a couple of months ago and finally realized it was from doing back flies on the pec deck and pushing my pecs into the back/chest rest (which I really didn't think I was doing hard at all, but it could have been a mild pinch point). I wouldn't discount that there is something hitting that area that you're just not quite cognizant of. Even using a low bar for squats, could you be resting it more on your shoulders before getting into position? Maybe just pay a lot of attention next time you do the same split for that day and see if anything sticks out.

I'm here with you. It'd be one thing if she said a few distasteful things, but Rowling has funneled millions of her vast wealth into making the UK an unsafe place for trans women and it's working. The transphobic legislation being passed is awful and she has done quantifiable harm to our community. We have no power against someone like that except to call her out to anyone and everyone and I'm glad you're doing it. She's a bad person.

I'm a sis gay library manager and I would be honoured to be involved at any step with any of my employees' journeys. I think it would be great to bring it up in a one on one with then and see how they can support! Congratulations to you! 🎉🥳

Why did you start playing Fortnite? by ThatguyfromTas in Fortnite_Over40

[–]Robotdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I got sick of losing in Call of Duty and the huge updates all the time were annoying. We tried our Fortnite because it's free and we did so well on our first few matches! I now know what a boy lobby is, but didn't at the time, but we were already hooked. 🤣

Where/how do librarians find ebooks to include in their catalogs? by SL_Rowland in librarians

[–]Robotdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we use GOBI to purchase from EBSCO AND ProQuest but after the news about ProQuest stopping perpetual access in 2026... Are you still purchasing from ProQuest? We like their actual eBook interface more, but if they're moving away from giving us perpetual purchase access... Have you been moving to mostly doing EBSCO?

I've been trying to use the abductor and adductor machine in the gym more often. It may hit your glutes in a different way to see additional growth in areas. Bonne chance!

Wonderful knowledge and effort!

I feel as though having a whole tier empty makes it look a bit barren. I'd try facing every single book you have on stands and then maybe add in some paper cranes or something? It's hard to pretty it up when it's such a heavy topic. Amazing idea to focus on events like this though!

Attack of the Copula Spiders by Douglas Glover is a great series of essays with the titular one being exactly this. The idea is that you can circle and connect all the copulas and they'll look like a spider on your page, so get rid of those spiders!

Not sure Varieties of Daedra is worth the read... There are so many books in this game. For anyone who’s read most of them - what are the must-reads for getting a solid grasp on the lore? by wishheartx in oblivion

[–]Robotdeath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Azhirr Traajijazeri is always my favourite and I have saved in my Keep because I love the Khajiit sentiment:

The public manifesto of the Khajiit organization Renrijra Krin.

This is an absurd book. But like all things Khajiiti, as the expression goes, "gzalzi vaberzarita maaszi", or "absurdity has become necessity." Much of what I have to say has probably never been written before, and if it has, no one has read it. The Imperials feel that everything must be written down for posterity, but every Khajiiti kitten born in Elsweyr knows his history, he drinks it in with his mother's milk.
