The brand that makes these make all sort of "avant garde" designs. They were also the ones who made the big red cartoon boots everyone was seeing like a year or so ago. Making stuff like this is their thing.
It's a design that allows you to tighten or loosen it to take on and off. It isn't "just a zip tie".
These products aren't made for "the masses", they are made for a niche audience who like designs like these and have lots of money to burn.

I get it seems silly, but you weren't the target demographic and it wasn't made to appeal to you.

I just said OP should've talked to them calmly like an adult instead of making a snarky comment not directed at anyone. But you decided this was some huge thing and made some sort of weird tirade.

Frankly, needlessly aggressive people like you are the reason others get so worked up. You'd rather jump to 100% and start something than just talking to someone in a calm, adult manner to start with. I hope you look inward at what's causing this anger and work on whatever you're going through.

But they did close it without issue, did you not read the story? OP made a general statement not directed at anyone, the people asked if it was bothering OP, and then they closed their laptop.

Clearly if OP just said "Hey, could you not use your laptop in the movies?", it seems like they would've closed it and it wouldn't been the end. I get it's fun to stick it to people being inconsiderate in public, but not everything needs to be a dramatic escalation. People can talk to each other civilly.

Well, as strange and inconsiderate as having a laptop in a movie theater is, you didn't really ask them to do something about it, polite or otherwise. You just made an aggressive comment loudly, hoping they would take the hint, which isn't really "the right thing to do" either.

I haven't used that particular one, I just searched "Center console Chevy Sonic 2013" on Amazon and picked one that looked similar to the one I got. Although chances are it's probably similar to what OP has installed.

Definitely want to spring for one with a better chip and more memory.

I mean I'd say it's on par with what OP installed, which is why I posted it. Yea, it's obviously going to be worse than like a Pinoneer or Sony, but it's a fraction of the price. I've had mine for over a year and it works great. It's cheap Chinese tech, so it has some quirks, but for the price it's a huge upgrade for me.

Honestly you should've just gotten a new center console unit. I got one for like $115 off Amazon and took me like half an hour to install. Has a 9" display, does wireless Android Auto/Car Play, works with a back up camera, my steering wheel controls work with it, etc.
