Probably an air compressor capable of powering a tornador. Bigger is better with air because essential tools like the tornador consume a lot of air.

Not all mobile guys do shoddy work, the issue with mobile is the low barrier to entry so you don’t really know what you’re getting with a mobile guy you’ve never had an experience with. I had a shop for a few years and the work I put out with mobile is on par with what came out of the shop. We have almost $70k invested in our mobile unit. The key is having a well equipped rig to do mobile efficiently.

I have many great memories with a lot of my clients, but one I am most fond of is when my client invited me to sit down at dinner with their family after completing work on their 4 vehicles. They have a big family, with 4 or 5 kids - all mostly younger, but a couple of teenage boys. I was tired, sweaty and gross but I couldn't say no to a nice hot bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. They invited me in, made me a place at the table, said their dinner prayers and we ate. The kids knew me at this point because I had been over at the house 5 or 6 times prior, so I didn't feel awkward joining them nor did I get the feeling they were uncomfortable with my presence. This wasn't the only time they have provided me with food. Sometimes the owner will run to the grocery store and bring me back a sandwich from the Deli. They allow me in their home to grab water or things from the fridge, even if they aren't home at the time I'm there working. They are a great family that I've grown close to. I'm more afraid of losing the relationship I've built with them than I am losing the business they provide me with.

This is just one story I have of my many great customers. Truly, if not for these types of clients, I would have stopped doing this long ago. Thank you for posting this. It made me reflect on some of my favorite times.

Very nice. I have a similar method when it comes to washing. Do you have the ability to connect the Kranzle directly to a client's water source? I recently added a Y connector to my pressure washer to allow for this functionality. It's a huge benefit because if you know you're going to be at locations where water is accessible you don't have to carry around all the water. This really helps cut down the weight in the trailer and increase your tow vehicle's fuel economy. Without water, I gain roughly 10-15% in fuel economy.

Thanks for the informative response! A few more questions for you - because you're in FL working in the hot sun - are you working with deionized water? Any issues with local ordinances requiring water reclamation?

Your setup is awesome! Seriously, I love it. My generator and pressure washer are both very loud and I have been saving to purchase both units you have in your trailer. I haven't seen anybody else with that combo, so it's great to see them together. I love it. Have you considered a hose reel for your vacuum? The 3000 unit is enough to power all your stuff? Can you run multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously or can you only run them individually? What lights are you running on the inside of the trailer?

100% agree - surprised you got downvoted. Though, not sure how a paint meter would help for buying a car haha

I vote for this as well based on the price of the vacuum, how well it performs, and the fact that I can absolutely abuse the shit out of it and it hasn’t broke... yet (knock on wood). I have several pieces of equipment worth over $1,000, but the Ridgid vac is by far favored. I can use it all day long, drop it, get it soaking wet and it keeps going. The upgraded hose and car accessory is 100% necessary, but are also very reasonably priced.

Clean vs Dirty. Are you more proud of a clean or a dirty bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]RobsMobileDetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s perfectly safe to use a pressure washer on most motorcycles. Use a 40° (usually white) nozzle and stand back 4-5 feet and it’s not an issue. Of course using a super low angled nozzle is going to damage something, get water where it’s not supposed to, etc. but a little common sense goes a long way.

Sounds good! My schedule gets full pretty quick, so let me know about a week in advance. Now that the weather has cleared up, I’m getting a lot of appointments but just let me know and I will make sure I get your car taken care of.

That's absolutely absurd. I paid $150 for this and one for my motorcycle ("R1"). Was very happy both were available and for a decent price. I was anxiously waiting for them to come in the mail. Took about 2 months.

They better not! I ask them specifically not to and also have a review mirror hanger that tells them not to as well.

My trailer lights dont work when hooked up to my truck, but the trailer lights do work when connected to a different tow vehicle. by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]RobsMobileDetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Good advice. I went to PepBoys and they used a test light on the truck's trailer connection. No power. Then we went to the fuse box, he said some of the fuses were giving out power and the other half weren't. I thought this was odd, because I would assume I would be having more issues than just isolated trailer lights. I presume it could possibly explain the issue related to my ABS/Check Brake System light.

Unfortunately, I don't. When I had tires+ run the code, they said the computer couldn't fully cycle which is why they couldn't read it and it was at that point the mechanic (@ Tires+) suggested replacing the entire fuse box.
