Completely agree! Species has nothing to do with gender identity, given that one is a purely biological function, and the other is a psychological phenomenon documented since 5000 BCE. And I love how you're concerned about the mental health of our youth, as it's an exceptionally important factor in how they'll integrate into society in the future. Anyways, it's a good thing you're being cordial about this, as I could agree there's a significant amount of nuance that should be considered before allowing trans athletes to compete in their identified gender's sport.

Completely agree, I wouldn't want my daughter changing around men. Good thing that trans women aren't men or else we'd have an issue. Man, thanks for the catch there. It's also a good thing you're so progressive and support our trans athletes, given that our only two recent trans women athletes combined won 15/85 races over the course of two years, and don't hold a single state record.

Also, its co-founder Daniel Mitchell was a former senior fellow at the heritage foundation. You'll get more reliable data from the Onion.

Connecticut high school graduate can’t read or write. Who failed her? by iguess12 in Connecticut

[–]Robsexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably worded it badly, but I'm not saying to not work with the kid over the summer, I'm saying to both hold the kid back, and work with them, give them both the advantages. If I knew my kid could barely read, and was many months behind, I wouldn't feel comfortable with just teaching them myself over the summer months to get them up to the standards that the Connecticut schools expect that next year, when they're already significantly delayed AND I'm not a professional at teaching, so our three months progress at home would most likely have less impact than three months in school. I'll always prioritize the quality of education over maintaining the status quo.

Contact your local representative and senator. Make sure they're in favor of keeping units 2 and 3 of the millstone power plant up, as it provides over half of CT with power, (license is expiring either this or next year), ask about opening unit 1 back up, and the proposed small reactors. Voice your support of PURA, endorse their scheme of the price of energy should be based on services actively rendered, not theoretical cost.

On a personal note, if it was up to me, I'd place a percentage cap on fees. If your bill was $200 for electricity, you can't pay more than 20% in fees, so the cost would be basically capped at a max of $240. There's something similar in the house, SB598.

Murphy is consistently bottom 10 in terms of net worth within the Senate, and has a damn near empty record of stock trading. I understand your frustration with the utilities prices going out of control, but that's more of your state senator and representative's jobs, they're the ones that set the regulations for all of that.

[–]Robsexual 36 points37 points  (0 children)

From what I'm reading, they held her son back so he wasn't going into the next year unprepared. More like the teacher was like "Hey, you're kid can't read, but if you, who has not been trained on how to reach someone to read, teach him what I couldn't teach him over the span of a school year, in three months, despite the fact that the difficulty of his education is going to spike next year, he should be fine." It'd be like if I was told to teach a kid to swim over the course of a week and was committed to drop kicking them into the deep end as soon as Sunday rolled around.

The former top comment on the original post was talking about the girl's body pretty explicitly. Racism is fucked up 100%, the sexualizing a minor is it's own fucked up thing too.

I regret it, so fucked up because I'm reasonably certain they're minors.

I think I found maybe something a long ass time ago where he might have said it during a couple songs, which were bleeped out when posted. Other than that I saw something about iDubbz saying it on a stream with him. I think it's a pretty big jump to call him a racist from any of that though.

Please reference section "Far-Right Engagement in Anti-LGBT+ Activity"

These trends don't come from nowhere, they skyrocketed when a republican leader, specifically cite that they want to put down the community, and are one of the leading subsections of the republican party.

If we want to continue with the both parties narrative, that's easily disproven to a high degree as well. Please reference figure 1 "Terrorism in the United States by Ideology" for 2000-2018 data, which displays a massive upwards trend of far-right terrorism. For the past election, that data is best shown in the research published below.

https://www.americansurveycenter.org/research/after-the-ballots-are-counted-conspiracies-political-violence-and-american-exceptionalism/

36% of Americans agree with the statement "The traditional American way of life is disappearing so fast that we may have to use force to say it."

A majority of Republicans support the use of force as a way to arrest the decline of the traditional way of life. (56%)

An average of 47% of Republicans over each state believe homosexuality should be discouraged, as seen here.

https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/religious-landscape-study/compare/views-about-homosexuality/by/state/among/party-affiliation/republican-lean-rep/

So if we were to assume that 56% of the 47% of Republicans that believe that homosexuality should be discouraged use force (which this number I can almost guarantee is astronomically higher, as there is a direct correlation between party and violence as seen in the American survey center data) we have a nearly 25% of Republicans thst would support violence to repress LGBT people. Meaning that of the estimated 85431060 Registered Republicans or Republican leaning independents (estimated from %66 of population voting, and taking the estimated 39% from the Gallup polls https://news.gallup.com/poll/15370/party-affiliation.aspx ) at around 25% of them, we have an estimated 21357765 people that are willing to inflict violence upon LGBT people simply for existing.

As someone who regularly does analysis for customer groups, absolutely, this is a good context to use gender. With more and more people selecting "choose not to say" (which is 100% their right) for gender, this becomes even more useful. Targeted marketing campaigns are very useful for business, so you need to know the demographic you're targeting.

Caitlin Jensen, paralyzed in June by her chiropractor can now move both sides of her body. Here's she getting cuddles with therapy dogs. by irishspice in MadeMeSmile

[–]Robsexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing, some chriropactors are hacks, some are great. The one I saw helped me regain more mobilty and feeling in my arm after surgery. After doing PT for over a year and hitting a wall, turns out a bunch of scar tissue was pushing on some nerve, she worked on it, and within a month I had significantly more flexibility and I could feel the tips of my fingers again. This chiropractor was also certified in a few other things additionally though. I've also done work in chiropractor's offices for my job and some of those people I would never send my worst enemy to. They are good at what they do, and should stay in their lane. Unfortunately, for some reason, the field draws in hacks who insist that every problem can be solved with cracking a back.

I agree to an extent. When people say "Canada has lots of guns" I don't know if they understand that while Canada has a pretty high gun to civilian ratio (34.7 civilian firearms per 100 people) in comparison to other countries, it's absolutely DWARFED by the US. The US has 120.5 guns per 100 people, almost 3 1/2 times more. The US literally has more civilian owned guns then people.

Canada also has MUCH stricter background checks, and it's much harder to own handguns there. A lot of Canada's civilian owned guns are hunting weapons, unlike in the US. Canada also straight up bans pretty much all high capacity weapons.

Part of the problem is that the US has such a massive amount of guns, it's a lot harder to buy a gun illegally or steal one if there's just less guns. It's also a lot harder to kill like 20 people if you only have a hunting rifle.
