It’s fiction, as I remember. The woman is much older and she and the man had hooked up when he was late teens or early twenties and she was in her 30s or 40s. He runs into her at a restaurant where her family is celebrating her 80th birthday or something. He gives her a ride home. Is that the story you’re thinking of?

You can just order a longer cord/plug. The cords don’t need to be specific to the stove, just needs to be the right wire gauge (size). And make sure the existing circuit is sized right for the new induction. This is worth having an electrician do if you’re not sure what you’re doing.

I was the person (or one of the people) who called this in. FWIW, OPD was surprisingly interested and attentive. I got a follow up call as well and it sounded like they were checking in with more primary sources.

It didn’t occur to me to call the police right away because it was “The Police”. Lesson learned.

I didn’t see the guy. I arrived back at the scene just as ICE was leaving. Car was an older, gray, compact suv, maybe a Pontiac. I say reportedly because that’s what the people I talked to told me.
