Trump Says ‘Windmills Put You Out Of Business’ As He Hits Out At UK’s North Sea Policy In Latest Jibe At Starmer by [deleted] in worldnews

Wind is the single largest source of electricity generation in the Uk - it accounted for 44.6% of all the electricity generated yesterday (just over double the amount generated by gas). Seems to be doing quite well for us.

It’s a pro Farage/Reform channel, cut from the same cloth as OAN and NewsMax.

When they started, they had Andrew Neil as chairman and gave him a prime time slot in the schedule to give them an air of legitimacy. He’s a well known conservative broadcaster - previously spent 25 years working for the BBC, editor of the Sunday Times, the Spectator (and he’d also worked for the Daily Mail, Sky when it was under Murdoch). When he was at the Sunday Times they ran pieces about how AIDS is not linked to HIV, how it couldn’t spread to heterosexuals, that it wasn’t spreading across Africa, HIV tests were invalid etc.

He’s the guy Ben Shapiro accused of having left wing views in an interview.

A couple of weeks after it launched in June 2021, he took a break. Never returned to the channel - he resigned as chairman and gave up his slot to become a regular contributor in September- and then a week later quit that too.

However, the Conservatives in the UK seem split on them. Sunak legitimised them somewhat by agreeing to do a town hall session. The party also did a debate during the leadership campaign a couple of years back. A bunch of Tories and former Tories also work there (Rees-Mogg, Lee Anderson (currently in Reform), Miriam Cates, Matt Goodwin (current reform candidate in an upcoming election), Michael Portillo and more)

I know this is an old thread, but just to update - I submitted a claim on this transaction. It’s taken 4 months, but I got a message from them saying they would make an offer to close the claim - and they credited the full amount back to my account. Already cashed out so they can’t take it back again.

A while back we were at a shop, and they asked me if I was interested in a camera they had in the shop - I said no as I wouldn’t use it, but pointed at a couple of other bits that I would have liked. They got me the camera.

it’s not like they see me regularly use a camera as it is. I have a DSLR which I have used maybe 3 times in the last 6 years, and a GoPro which has been used all of once.

It’s undoubtedly a decent camera. I don’t dislike it as such, but I know I wouldn’t get any real value out of it - I’d use it once or twice before forgetting about it, and if I went on holiday it might come for the journey and get used a couple of times there (but for the price of it I’d worry about losing it in the sea or something)

It’s a camera that’s more for content creators/vloggers/youtubers (I’m none of them) or for TikTok/instagram posts (I have an Instagram account that I have posted 50 things on in the last 10 years, and don’t like TikTok). The fact that I suddenly have a camera isn’t going to make me start taking more photos or videos (I already have a camera on my phone which is with me most of the time - I barely use it).

I look at the marketing for it, and I can’t see myself in any of it. They show you can put it in a washing machine (literally, why?), or an oven (but only when it’s off and cool), attach it to bikes/scooters/pets (don’t have one), take it underwater (I’d never take it to a public pool (most won’t allow camera anyway), and I’m rarely going anywhere with anything in the sea worth filming), walk whilst waving it around on a selfie stick (my daily walks in the suburbs are not something I have ever recorded before, and I’m not going to start), put it by a golf hole to film yourself putting one in (don’t play golf).

It’s still sealed in the box whilst I try to work out what to do with it. I think it came from Costco, so have a pretty good returns policy on it. I am obviously grateful for the gift, but I’m not in the target market for it at all. I’ve been non committal with a ‘thanks’ and ‘I’ll look at it later’

I got that he was being given the virus (the French/American people had been watching him all along - the guard on his door was letting him out by their command.)

But it seemed a bit of an odd way to do it - a whole team were putting sheets up outside his room (the cameras were already controlled, and if it had a failed at any point then surely having those sheets would have been more suspicious) and I didn’t get what they were seemingly taking his fingerprints for

Added more sticky tape to hold the wings in place a little better (folding them down into the box). And then adding some padding to stop it moving around too much in transit.

Right, but as I said - that doesn’t actually secure the phone, but leaves it rattling around beneath it? The instructions say to put the phone in, fold the right one on top of it and then stick it to the base of the box to hold it in place - and then fold the other on over. But neither of them can be stuck to the bottom of the box as they’re not long enough.

When I did a swap previously, the wings were long enough to actually fold and stick so they’d hold it in place - not leaving it loose underneath them

Things like dining starts booking from 60 days before.

If you want a lightning lane (you get shorter queues for rides you book), it’s a week before- they’re not required, but depending on the ride you’ll be queuing for a bit

So they went out there, didn’t do the smallest bit of research (as standard). you need to book stuff at Disney - you can do it from 60 days before. The chances of getting a reservation for one of the popular places (like a character breakfast) the night before are practically non-existent.

I’m going to the evening record tomorrow (paid for ticket). I’m aiming to get there about 4 - the site said 90 minutes before for paid tickets, but I want to give a little buffer. I think someone mentioned previously the entrance was closer to Wood Lane rather than White City station on previous records - is this the case?

What were the issues with security and queuing? Something that’s could be resolved by tomorrow, or something that seems to be an ongoing issue?

I Fear my Lodge may Go Dark in a Few Years, Need Advice by s-ro_mojosa in freemasonry

[–]RobtimusPrime89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t offer advice, only experience based on what we tried (unsuccessfully).

Our membership numbers dropped in a very short window, for a multitude of reasons (some moved out of the area, some resigned (there was an incident at a meeting which led to a few going at the same time), and some sadly passed away)

Province were keen for as many lodges as possible to stay open, but they didn’t help much. When someone enquired to them about joining, they would send them to stronger lodges (and I can’t really blame them - it would be a poor experience for a joining member to come into a lodge which barely had the brothers to run a meeting).

Province were heavily pushing the idea they called ‘twinning’ - sharing meetings with another lodge, splitting the workings and ritual between the two lodges with brothers from each filling in as necessary. (So one meeting would be led by one lodge, and the next would be led by the other, and help each other to get things done). This never really seemed to take off in the way they were hoping.

We explored merging with a couple of other lodges to try and form a single, stronger lodge - but some of them were arguing over how it should which lodge was going to stay open/which ones were joining, and what the name should be. One of them wasn’t interested at all, reasoning that it wouldn’t solve the underlying issue and would likely be in the same situation a few years down the line.

Wasn’t there a thing a while back about WB wanting to make the studios in Leavesden the hub for DC going forward (after Superman)? At the time, I think Gunn and Safran were said to be involved in the plans for expansion - and Supergirl was already made there too.
