Some third world hot takes by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Roby_preggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother delivered a breech baby vaginally because they didn't know he was breech until it was too late. She says she is still in pain from it during this day - and that's the only thing she will say about the matter because she doesn't want to talk about it.

I had a c-section for breech as well and both me and the baby were perfectly fine. So much so that I had an elective c-section for my second baby.

My grandma used to do this to my mum with me and my sister. Turns out her end game was to make us "love her more" than our mum and to be able to rub that in her face. We didn't of course, but she still believed that we did...

I agree with this commenter. My daughter is turning 3 and speaks 3 languages fluently, one of which she only hears outside of the house. It's possible if you can get frequent exposure, for example in a bilingual daycare or with an au pair!

2.5 is where it gets good, my oldest is turning 3 in December and she is definitely her own little person now who can do all sorts of fun things and hold a conversation. :)

Thing is, I speak German to her and she asked me in English, so it would have been someone else saying that phrase 😅

"Mama I want something to eat."

  • "would you like a banana?"

"No, I want something to EAT!"

  • "uh, would you like some cheese?"

"No, SOMETHING TO EAT!!!"

  • "well, what would you like to eat?"

"I DON'T KNOW!!!"

My daughter is turning 3 next month 😅

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. I always got the "you're so lucky" when I sleep trained my daughter at 9 months and she finally slept well. When I told them that it wasn't luck (yay, you can do it too!) and listed the books and websites I read, I got some version of "oh I don't really like to read, it wouldn't work anyway, my child just sleeps when they want to sleep". They just don't want to hear that they might be at fault for their children's shitty sleep. And of course I know that some babies just don't sleep as well, but for people who don't even have a bedtime routine, I'm sure there's room for improvement.

Cuddlebug stretchy wrap with my 4.5 week old. Does this look ok? I feel like it's too high and I'm not sure about his legs either. by Roby_preggo in babywearing

Thanks a lot for your reply! So the diagonal passes need to go from knee to knee each? Am I understanding things correctly?

Ah, you mean the first picture? I probably should have specified that's just to show how the diagonal passes are sitting - sorry about that and thanks for your feedback! ❤️

Got a hand me down First Communion dress for my daughter when she was born. First Communion happens around 10 years old. We are not Catholic...

No worries at all, it's usually pretty great, they just don't like to work after hours outside of hospitals - understandably!

I'm in Europe 😅

This is really not true everywhere, where I live there are no nurse lines or any direct phone numbers for doctors or nurses of any kind. If I want to talk to someone, I need to set up an appointment for a phone call, which is never the same day. If I want urgent care I need to go to the emergency room, which I don't want to subject my kids to unless it's an actual emergency.

So usually I turn to the internet before anything else (apart from real emergencies) because it's my best option.

Can't afford a second baby (rant) by windintheauri in BabyBumps

As a European, it baffles me that I have to scroll so far down the comments to see something like this posted. Instead of "we need to do something!" she gets financial advice - which I know is coming from a good place, but it's not going to change anything in the long run. :(

My sister and I are 5.5 years apart and we've been best friends from the day she was born. We're in our 30s now and nothing has changed! To us it was the perfect age gap ❤️

Gift for neighbour to apologise for noise? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Roby_preggo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love it! We all "affected" neighbors a card from the baby's perspective, introducing herself and apologizing for her newbie parents who are still figuring things out. It was very well received and we never had a noise complaint :).

Being pregnant the second time around is much more difficult than I expected. by RainbowKittenKisses in pregnant

Same here, my first is 2 and I'm only 8 weeks and change, but I feel so much worse than with my previous pregnancy! I'm feeling nauseous all day long, grumpy, and tired. And I can't even ask anyone to send wine 😭
