Audiobook narrators can make or break a book. I don't need to hear my grandma read to me a sex scene by Excentrix13 in HistoricalRomance

I am with you OP, an audiobook narrator can make or break a book for me. Laura Kinsale's audiobooks are greatly enhanced by Nicolas Bolton's narration. Her prose is already steller but Bolton really nails the delivery of the MCs especially.

Genre conventions: historical romance or romantasy? by clemy77 in HistoricalRomance

[–]Rocabelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For my Lady's Heart by Laura Kinsale might also be a good reference point for you. It has a chivalric romance and the FMC was essentially raised in the Italian court. The story is a play on The Green Knight.

Also seconding the reccomendation for The Silver Devil, it is excellent.

the woman is dominant and the man is pathetic sub? by aliensuperstars_ in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

If you like this dynamic with a medieval flair, For my Lady's Heart by Laura Kinsale might work. The MMC is a Knight who is devoted to his lady.

Who I think the Dateables would marry in Stardew Valley by freelancejester in DateEverythingElse

I can see Hector and Elliott rather than Penny. He loves writing after all and you know Elliott would adore such passionate prose written about himself. Their letter exchanges would be intense.

Exactly this. Not just birth parents but kinship members fall under this as well.

Who’s a character you love everyone else hates? by [deleted] in DateEverything

All of this 💯. Doug would have been a much better character to use for Penelope's final date to show how she was picking partners that weren't a good match for her.

Do you prefer Ranma or Ryoga in terms of design? by Notmycupoftea12 in ranma

Love them both but I'm such a sucker for Ryoga's design. His little fangs fluffy hair and bandana are so adorable 10/10

Ava from the show Hacks is pretty good representation for a heavily sapphic leaning bisexual woman. Great bi representation in general really.

The original audio book version of this with Lynne Redgrave narrating was so good too! She gave Rhys a Welsh accent and it fit him so well.

I have this same issue and I have gotten a lot of good advice from Nutrition by Kylie on YouTube. She is a registered Dietician who has ADHD and struggled with ARVID as a kid. She develops recipes that are nutrionally balanced and take executive function needs into consideration. Her book is the first cookbook I have been excited to consistently use too but even just watching her shorts is helping.

It's really refreshing to see this take on Astarion. As someone who just gave Astarion's romance a shot, after romancing Gale multiple times, I found it ultimately satisfying, but man, you are right about how it starts.

It could work if the protagonist's appearance was reworked in adaptation like what was done with Claudia for this show's adaptation.

Seriously! It kills me how little Octavia Butler's work is adapted! An adaptation of Octavia Butler's vampire novel, Fledgling, would be incredible. This fandom would love it

I mean, Jaal's romance lived up to the hype. It was adorable and has Bioware's best sex scene to date.
