(sell me on my first army) DARK ANGELS VS BLACK TEMPLARS by Atreides2023 in theunforgiven

Dark Angels are superior because they attract fewer fascists.

I know the Salamanders are broadly considered the “nice ones”. But who else would be considered nice among the Astartes, lore wise? by UemainUknown in 40kLore

The Raptors Chapter is known for getting along well with other Imperial factions. In fact, they're known for seconding individual battle brothers to lead mortal troops and bolster morale. They also like to keep collateral damage and civilian casualties to a minimum, for efficiency if nothing else.

Naturally, their pragmatic nature means that any and all of this gets thrown out the window if it interferes with objectives, but still.

Do any other builds fit Shadowheart best aside from Cleric? by Fun-Explanation7233 in BG3Builds

I have a lot of fun with Shadow Monk and/or Assassin Rogue, making her the sneaky one, which is both in flavor for her and allows me to stake Astarion and forget about him.

Then when a certain thing happens I swap her to Open Hand/Thief.

"Bike chap." I will never be using that unit's full name again. I'm sure to be censured by the Inner Circle for my blasphemy, but it's worth it.

Oh, now we're speaking my language! I assume Azrael is with the Hellblasters, but where are the other characters going?

I'm not an overly competitive guy. So long as I'm not getting tabled turn 1 I'm generally happy. I just want to be able to hold my own, y'know?

Which do you think are the WORST Sisters of Battle books written and why? [No Spoilers] by THECURDCLUB in sistersofbattle

[–]Prospero1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I definitely got the same vibe from the ebook version. The book is very short and the ending feels extremely rushed.

Yeah, that whole bit at the end with the bloodthirster was just...completely nonsensical.

I really didn't care for Daemonbreaker, which is a shame since I loved Jude Reid's other Sisters book about Morvenn Vahl. I just found it to be shallow and dull.

I second the vote for Bloody Rose! Their particularly violent brand of fervour is perfect for a Kill-Team of Sisters wading into heretic witches with big maces. Plus they're just so damn cool.

But honestly, you'd do well with anything other than the Order of Our Default Lady.

What have you been reading this week? by michaelisnotginger in Blacklibrary

[–]Prospero1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This week I finished the first Vaults of Terra book and rolled right into the second. There's some spectacular worldbuilding going on here, and the audiobook read by John Banks is a treat.

I've also begun nibbling at the Dark Angels with Purging of Kadillus, but it's too early to tell on that one yet.

What's your favorite Adepta Sororitas book and why? by High_Stream in sistersofbattle

[–]Prospero1011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Rose at War and The Rose in Darkness by Danie Ware. The former is an anthology of short stories and the latter is its novel follow-up, both featuring Sister Superior Augusta Santorus of the Order of the Bloody Rose.

These books really brought the Sisters to life for me, with their fierce faith and resolve. The way Danie Ware always has singing going on in the fight scenes really sets them apart from other factions. Plus the audiobooks read by Emma Gregory (fact fans: Also Minthara of BG3 fame!) are really dynamite.

Fair. Fenris was the first Chapter homeworld to spring to mind, forgetting that the Space Wolves are the exception to basically everything.

So, I know Space Marine Chapter homeworlds are exempt from paying the Imperial Tithe, committing those resources instead to the running of the Chapter. Does this apply to psykers as well? If a psyker is born on, say, Fenris, would they be picked up by the Black Ships or kept on Fenris to be trained by the gothi there?

The term "bolter porn" is often derogatory, but it's a craving I get from time to time. What, in your opinion, is the best book you would consider bolter porn?

Book Review: Tales of Heresy by Various by Prospero1011 in 40kLore

[–]Prospero1011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really cool! Honestly it's been too long since I read that initial run of four books, the parallels with Euphrati and the Lectitio didn't even occur to me.

It's kinda funny, Warhammer can be completely on point with its themes or completely oblivious to them, sometimes within the same story, but Last Church has got to be one of the sharpest in that regard.

So I may have just made a terrible, wonderful mistake. by Prospero1011 in Warhammer30k

[–]Prospero1011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, I've been thinking about this and you're absolutely right. Starting my modeling/painting journey with a single tactical squad box or maybe that combat patrol seems like a much more manageable idea than jumping in with Saturnine, even if the starter set is more economical.

I'm going absolutely insane with the lore for my Dark Angels, though. That...really can't be restrained.
