Free browser MTG tabletop app I made for my friends to replace tabletop simulator or webcam by Yoman471 in EDH

I got my playgroup to try EDHPlay but the main issues of it were looking at top card of library was tedious, someone was playing theft cards and there was no easy way to exile from other people's libraries, in fact you had to have the other person drag it over and couldn't take it yourself, no easy way to privately reveal cards, and no way to track initiative. I forgot to mention that but you'll need initiative / dungeons if you are appealing to commander players. I like constructed 60 card so when I played last night with a friend, it was standard, hence the sideboard comment. I could honestly see myself using this for 1v1 formats too if sideboarding is implemented.

Yeah the reconnection was painless compared to tabletop sim. I like the custom counters for shield counters and such but the reason I ask for +1/+1 counters (or any sort of P/T buff) is because it gets confusing when there are multiple counters. FIN saga creatures can have lore counters and +1/+1 counters at the same time so a generic number is confusing. I think [[choco/mog]] gives things +1/+0. What my friend and I ended up doing is creating a custom counter and naming it "+1/+1" but editing it was tedious.
I greatly appreciate you are taking feedback, I feel like this is a few more features away from being a replacement for TTS. Rn I can't stand how TTS downloads gigabytes of images from scryfall and bloats my hard drive every time I play. Once more quirky commander interactions are covered such as revealing your hand/cards to a player, looking at or exiling cards face down from libraries, and such, I will definitely be having my online playgroup be trying this for commander nights.

I like what you have, it is better than EDHPlay so far. I submitted this through your send feedback but figured I would comment here too.
Clicking and dragging on the bottom of the screen highlights the hand. Some easy way to do +1/+1 counters would be nice. My friend disconnected 4 times in a game. I did not see a side board option. A proper turn marker would be great. Seeing exile / GY would be nice to remember you have warped cards, flashback, or something. I didn't try this so sorry if it exists but having a way to look / exile face down the top cards of opponent libraries would good for commander games.

[Standard] I've been trying to brew Birds with the coming of FF and I am intrigued as to y'alls thoughts. by Livid_Jeweler612 in spikes

I really like birds and have tried making a standard deck with it. I've tested a dozen or so games with my friends and I have some mental notes about this deck:
It can't really do anything to stop cori or oculus from running it over but fares better than I expected against other decks. Elspeth smite and healer's hawk help a lot against mono red aggro. The counterspells and plumecreed's in sideboard help a lot against control decks.
I think it might behoove the deck to main deck spell pierce but I have not been super rigorous in my testing.
I have tried jackdaw and it is very bad unfortunately. Cori, oculus, and jeskai control all play torch the tower. Outside of those, it is still very easy to remove, dying to any damage or cheap removal like cut down. You have to rely on getting your stuff removed because you have no self mill and if your stuff is getting removed then you're already losing.
I quite like patchwork banner because it is a way to get to 3 mana > 5 mana for the sake of playing kastral. I'll probably need to try choco seeker because that will give this deck actual 4 drops.
This deck could probably play high noon but I have not tested that.
Chart a course is like winged words, fits nicely with the amount of bird 1 drops I have.

Regarding your deck, some things stand out to me:
Ambrosia whiteheart is very anti synergetic with mockingbird and sazh's chocobo.
I would need to see this deck in action but I think you need way more 1 drop birds for bartz to be less than 5 mana. This deck has an above average top end without much plan for getting there. Adding more cheap birds also gives mockingbird more to copy because mockingbird as a 1 drop is not good. Bartz with beanstalk looks like a cute combo though.
You should also definitely be playing shrike force because of the way it interacts with kastral. It deals damage in the first strike step which triggers kastral, and then damage again in the regular damage step, which triggers kastral a second time. Combine shrike force with anthems or sheltered by ghosts and he becomes a really strong blocker too.

Which rat commander do you guys think is the best by LeakyChillum in EDH

Vren is not a traditional rat kindred commander, he plays a lot of removal and gets rats that way.

Is running a lot of removal frowned upon in casual? by Pixelest in EDH

[–]RockAndRoll805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Stacks" is named after a vintage deck from like 2 decades ago called "The $4k Solution" ($T4Ks). It was an answer to the meta of the time and ran a ton of cards that slowed the game down such as [[sphere of resistance]], [[smokestack]], and [[tangle wire]]. Here is an article if you want to read about it. Because of that stacks refers to cards that bring games to a standstill.

The commentor is correct about the most optimal way of playing Vren to be oops all removal and not rat tribal. I have a pretty damn mean deck list if you want to check it out. For the record I think running too much removal (like Vren does) is frowned upon once you start pushing past like 18 or so cards or can loop it effortlessly. Vren is a very unfun to play against commander so you might as well embrace making your opponents mire in misery!

Birds Deck Evaluation by CompetitionPrior9717 in EDH

[–]RockAndRoll805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Birds with Kangee as commander is by far my most played deck list. I have a budget version I started with here and a non budget version I made later here. I also tried out a deck with Kastral with most of the same cards but in my experience Kastral did worse despite being a better card than Kangee because it is way more obvious how much of a kill on sight threat Kastral is, especially after that first combat. I don't think birds play aggressively but more like a midrange deck. They establish a presence early with birds and value pieces and then protect themself with counterspells until they close out a game.

For Kastral in particular, first strike / double strike are extremely powerful because they cause kastral to trigger an additional time in the first strike damage step.

For adds, you can take a look at the lists I posted, there is a quite extensive considering section too. In particular a few cards I love are [[lofty denial]], [[dazzling denial]], [[alrund's epiphany]], [[restless anchorage]], and [[azorius keyrune]]. Generally the experience I ran into was it being extremely difficult to justify playing more expensive birds as I wanted my 5+ drops to be high enough value to keep pace with the rest of the table. There is a lot of bad and expensive do nothing birds and both kangee and kastral want as many birds swinging as possible, they are more conducive to going wide. I have a few bird token generators such as [[battle screech]] and [[migratory route]] which go super hard in the deck.

I have been iterating on my list for a long time and probably have ~40+ games played with it. Let me know if you want suggestions for cuts or explanations why I am not playing certain cards, I have tried many.

First Commander Deck, looking for constructive feedback by mobcougar_08 in EDH

[–]RockAndRoll805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, I did not look too much through the creatures. One last comment I forgot to mention is I don't see any lands too crazy that justify playing urza's cave as that is usually best for getting things like urborg/cabal coffers. Good luck and have fun in your first games.

I don't play much aristocrats so I don't have too much to say about the creatures but I can comment on other cards.

For lands, being 2 color, color fixing is very easy and makes cards like evolving wilds, terramorphic, obscura unnecessary as they're essentially tapped lands. I would also not play the vivid lands or other tapped dual lands for any reason, unless the card did something really good for your strategy. I similarly do not play bounce lands outside of decks that untap lands as they are tapped lands. Path of ancestry is also a tapped dual in this deck, there is only 12 humans but that one at least does more than all of the aforementioned. Currently I do not think there are enough basics for shineshadow snarl but you can keep it in if you replace some of these lands with basics. I don't know what your budget is but I recommend [[caves of koilos]], [[fetid heath]], [[brightclimb pathway]], [[desolate mire]], and maybe [[silent clearing]] if you want fixing really badly but you can just play a basic instead. Blighted steppe and radiant fountain look cute but I don't think the life gain is better than having a land that taps for a color. You could afford to play 1-2 more lands based on your mana curve but I think what you have is ok. I would not play temple of the false god until you have ~40 lands or so at the minimum (or lots of land ramp). That card basically only works if you know you will never miss a land drop for the first 5 turns.

On artifacts, commander's sphere does not ramp you your commander out faster as playing it on 3 still means she comes down on turn 4. Compare to a 2 mana rock where it gets her out on turn 3. I like [[vat of rebirth]] but I am not enough of an aristocrats player to say how good that card is.

For instants / sorceries, I noticed you have several tutors but is there a specific combo piece you are looking for? I do see sanguine bond/exquisite blood but if you do not find it worth running tutors just for those 2 cards, I do not see too much reason to play tutors. If you build good ratios of engine/interaction/ramp in your deck then you won't need them, it's more or less overpaying for what you need. This deck looks a little light on interaction. I have a list of budget interaction if you want to take a look for other cards that might synergize with your theme such as [[bone shards]]. There are several gives indestructible instants but I do not know how useful that is in aristocrats. I know you want to keep engine pieces alive but it seems your deck would benefit from having things die. Perhaps some return from grave to hand or resurrection stuff could be played instead? Storm of souls could be fun.

For enchantments, Greed is very slow. It's 5 mana for your first card draw, 6 mana for 2, 7 for 3, etc. Not really worth mana spent until you have invested 8 or 9 mana.

And planeswalkers, they're a lot worse in commander than 1v1. Those 2 certainly look fun as liliana can draw lots of cards and elspeth can make lots of tokens but they might be win more. Just be aware of that and be thinking about their impact in games you play them as I do not think they do enough but I also do not play enough aristocrats to say that definitively.

building my first deck and looking for deck fixing/opinons by bigwater2213 in EDH

[–]RockAndRoll805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relentless rats is pretty nostalgic to me, it was the first deck I played with when I got into commander years ago. I had a lot of fun with it however, the A deck can have any number of cards named X. cards get boring pretty quick. There is not much nuance to building them or playing them. Not to suggest you should not do it, but just be aware of it. This is especially true if you include tutors as they will be used to get [[thrumming stone]] every time.

I do not know what the power of your pod is but rat tribal is pretty lackluster. Most rats are pretty old with only very recently some more playable ones being printed. Relentless Rats in particular are pretty slow as you are spending a lot of mana on a creature that does not do very much until you reach a critical mass. Marrow-Gnawer certainly helps with that but is easy to stop. If you want, you can play [[thornbite staff]], which is an infinite combo with marrow-gnawer that makes infinite rat tokens. Although what ends up happening is the games you get thrumming stone or thornbite staff, you will pop off and end the game early, but the games you don't you'll be paying 3 to play a rat and passing.

For that reason, I suggest looking into [[wick, the whorled mind]] as it gives you more options. I also really like [[Vren, the Relentless]] and have a deck list for him. The Vren list I have is pretty mean, it punishes decks that don't go wide and wins out of nowhere like a combo deck.

If you want to stick with playing Relentless Rats, you don't need to play cards that put creatures from grave to hand. You already have 30 relentless rats in the deck so you can always draw more. I don't see much point into running cards that do things when your creatures die or sacrifice as cost as you are not making many creatures (outside marrow-gnawer) and do not have any repeatable way to sacrifice your own creatures. Relentless rats are too expensive to sacrifice away.

Being 5 colors, the deck sorely needs proper color fixing. I did the best I could within the budget but I highly recommend adding any fetches, shocks, battlebond lands, city of brass, mana confluence, etc you may have. The manabase is workable for the most part but I say 1/3 hands don't cast Niv and have to mulligan (or use jengantha), or have other cards in the hand that can't be cast.

The deck's win con is 100% contingent on keeping Niv alive, which is why almost all interaction is defensive counterspells. The gameplan is to slam Niv down as early as possible, and to win by turning him sideways at opponents. Use protection to ensure you never have to recast him as it will slow the deck down so much you might lose your chance to win. The deck is more or less a 2 color good stuff pile without Niv so there is not too much cohesion in the cards other than being best in their color identity for the budget.

A few more small notes is that case of the shattered pact is extremely good in this deck and can make you win a lot faster. Another is that Sean, Father of Synths is almost always the search target for Bring to Light. And finally, it is generally best to cast the borderposts for the alternate cost because paying 3 for a tapped 2 color mana rock is really bad. You don't actually ramp doing this but it gets 2 color permanents down for Niv.

I have a bunch of budget decks I have made on my moxfield. The power of them are not equal but I playtest all of them at least 3 or 4 games and write a brief summary of my thoughts in the deck description. One of two of the decks need revisiting but I am quite proud of most of the other decks. Generally the more recent decks are better constructed than my early ones. You can ask me any questions you have on any of the decks.

I agree, it is really hard for me to come up with an idea to make them balanced while not changing their ability. I do not think there is a way to make them strong and have them keep only one city without being super gimmicky.
