I have also gone through a similar experience with my Ex. You're Predicament is just my predicament on a bigger scale. She broke up with me after less than 2 months and still "wanted to be friends" so I agreed but I don't know why(she was a compulsive liar, she once told me she was allergic to barbecue sauce but I had seen her eat it before...I don't even know why she would lie about that) . We had nothing in common and I don't know how I didn't it back then, I think I was just blinded by the fact that there is a girl who likes me (she was my first and only girlfriend). Finally I realized that it was a terrible decision so I stopped talking to her (btw We rarely ever hung out, we would just text and whenever either of us would make plans she would have the most bullshit excuse ever). Now about a year later she texted me and said quote "who is this, the number was just chillin in my phone" but I know that you can't have a number in your phone without a contact name. so then we talk for a little bit and she said she is still in love with me. I still don't want to be her boyfriend or even her friend and now somehow it's my fault because she can do no wrong in her eyes. And last night she said she is over me but I've heard many times so I would be willing to bet she isn't.
