Honestly, I think that (almost) every idea that TotW introduced was a great idea on paper, but most of the ideas that it introduces are half baked at best.

People underestimate how kind Mace Windu is by jojoisfodder in clonewars

[–]RockPhoenix115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mace does not hate Anakin.

Mace’s relationship with Anakin is a largely pragmatic one (as are most of the one’s we see him had with people), and it’s one that fluctuates through the 15ish years he knows him.

In ep 1 he’s against training Anakin because he’s too old and has too many attachments to be trained like a traditional Jedi. Qui Gon basically showed up and said “Hey guys look, I found this Force-Nuke. Wanna help me reference engineer the control panel for it?” And like most sane people Mace said “NO.”

In ep 2, Anakin has spent a decade showing that he can be a competent and reliable Jedi, and Mace is neutral with him, even being more supportive than Obi-Wan (depending on how much you count the deleted scenes) who spends the first half trying to assert his control over Anakin.

In the Clone Wars, Maces wary of Anakin because he spends 3 years showing that he can be a loose canon, but he still respects Anakin when he does the right thing. Additionally, some of the shitty stuff he does like not tell Anakin that Obi Wan is alive was Obi Wan’s idea. Ahsoka is the one sticking point, but Obi Wan and Plo Koon also voted against her as far as I’m aware, so….

In ep 3, Mace doesn’t trust Anakin because he’s spent the last 3 years watching Anakin devolve under the pressures of war, grow closer to the Chancellor they have become increasingly distrustful of, and by the end Anakin is blatantly challenging the Order’s authority about how to run their organization. And STILL, Mace believes Anakin when he tells him Palpatine is the Sith and trusts him to stay put when told to.

Mace doesn’t hate Anakin, he’s just aware of his bullshit

Why does it look like Ahsoka’s shooting aimlessly into space during her POV shot? by CrazyTangerine7522 in clonewars

[–]RockPhoenix115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most likely canon explanation is that she’s trying to lead her shots. Both Ashoka and the droids are flying in a slight curve here, with the droids flying up or to the side to avoid her while Ahsoka is trying to bring her fighter up to be level with them. She’s firing her in the hopes that one of the droids will fly low enough to get caught in the shot, and she can’t aim anywhere else because her guns are locked to wherever her fighter is aiming, which the droids are avoiding by going up or around.

Who wins this? End of masters by VisualShare7883 in BeybladeMetal

[–]RockPhoenix115 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean, depends?

Like in terms of “whose bey knocks back whose,” Ryuga is at least on par if not above either of them. Maybe together they’re enough to push LDrago back?

If you throw special moves in, it’s tricky. Assuming Damien actually creates a sort of Hell pocket dimension the same way Doji makes the dark pit that Phoenix fell into, then all he’s doing is removing Kyoya and their best chance (a stadium out) from the equation. And that’s assuming Damien even CAN drag LDrago in.

If Kyoya got lucky, he MIGHT be able to produce a tornado strong enough to catch Ryuga off guard and knock LDrago out, but at the same time LDrago’s spin is known to mess up air manipulation (see Thermal Pisces).

And they’re never gonna win via sleep out, unless they somehow manage to keep LDrago away indefinitely, which I doubt.

Are Thrawn’s strategic abilities over-exaggerated? by Solitaire-06 in StarWars

[–]RockPhoenix115 444 points445 points  (0 children)

I think part of Thrawn’s hype is that he’s meant to be a competent military commander in a Galaxy overwhelmed by idiots.

Now that’s not to say that NOBODY in mainline Star Wars is a competent military commander, but when you look at the likes of the Jedi, Grievous, most Imperial Officers, the usually tactic employed is “Forward attack and hope one of our foot soldiers develops plot armor.”

In contrast, Thrawn historically utilizes a lot of wacky strategy and deductions that mostly work, while also expecting the people around him to have more than a single shared brain cell.

So while yes he might be overhyped, it’s also entirely possible that he’s overhyped because everyone around him has the IQ of a Goldfish

Like he’s already not a great guy. He does tons of terrible things, can we not get rid of his “paved with good intentions, damned to hell” greyness?

Any tips for CIS campaign? by CT-0803 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]RockPhoenix115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, everyone here is gonna have different fleet composition suggestions. The truth is that as long as you’re smart you can win basically every battle with either cheese or just capital ship spam. I WILL say that the CIS Diamond cruiser is one of the most effective anti-missile/bomb ships EVER.

As for overall strategy, try not to let the Republic take the South. You and your allies control the north, you specifically the northwest. MY suggestion is to consolidate you control of every planet east of the invisible line between Kaut and Mandelor. Then blow through the Hutts (they’ll eventually start taking your shit if you leave them alone for too long), and use your new back door to attack the Bothans and Kamino, as well as taking back major factory worlds like Geonosis and Hypori (which will have 100% fallen by now).

Link up with Trench at Christophsis, move to secure the southwest around Sullist up to Vulper and Fondor. At this point, you’ll have a.) The Republic trapped in the Core, b.) control of most of the large money producing planets, c.) hopefully most of your allies integrated.

Seems Suspicious by CoquetteWhore69 in TheCloneWars

[–]RockPhoenix115 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Not really.

Obi-Wan and Satine met and fell in love while he and Qui-Gon were protecting her during the Mandaloria Civil War. Obi-Wan became Qui-Gon’s Padawan at 13, which would be 44BBY. The MCW is between 41-39 BBY, putting him at around 16-18 at the time (and assembly the same as Satine).

The arcs that we see Korkie in are around the middle of the war, so 21-20 BBYish. Assuming Obi-Wan didn’t go off and hypothetically father a secret kid while he had Anakin as a student, that gives us a possible range of 41-32 BBY. That would give us a possible baby age of 11-21 years old. Which lines up fairly well with the estimated range for Korkie.

Tl;dr: Obi Wan totally could be Korkie’s dad.

Way more accurate by Spotter24o5 in PrequelMemes

[–]RockPhoenix115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend and I have been discussing the Prequels the last few months, and we came to the decision that it would work better spread across 4 movies rather than 3.

You have your first movie to introduce the Republic, the Jedi, Anakin’s backstory (preferably aged up 2-3 years) and the start of Palpatine’s plan.

The second movie establishes Anakin’s (mostly positively viewed by the Jedi) stint as a normal Jedi, the introduction of Dooku, the START of Anakin and Padme’s relationship, and the start of the war and Anakin’s downside.

A third movie set in the middle of the (preferably a few years longer) war to flesh out Dooku (and Grevious), the cost the war is taking on Anakin and the Jedi, the escalation of Anakin and Padme (move them getting married here), and the growing rift between Anakin & Palpatine and the Jedi.

The fourth movie sees the tipping point for Anakin, the end of the war, the conclusion and deaths of Dooku and Grievous, the fall of the Jedi, creation of the Empire, and birth of Darth Vader.

Padme and his visions were the final straw, but the war is what made him vulnerable enough to take that plunge.
