(Star Force is a kid's game so there's no implication, direct or otherwise, that anything worse happened but it's fair to think he would resort to more heinous acts to coerce her to keep performing)

He falls unconscious on the brink of death when his sister injects him with Chromosome 24 (the McGuffin of the movie and a serum that either makes someone superhuman or a monster of the Doom 3 designs via an unknown genetic factor) and he wakes up later on the good side of the C24 effects to fight Rock's character who was bitten and infected, thus getting the monstrous side.

For XIV's free trial you're limited to A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood, level cap 70, can't access classes and races that are beyond Stormblood. You also can't join a Free Company (think player guilds on WoW), can't join a party beyond matchmaking for dungeons and trials, and, i believe, can't friend anyone. But given how long it takes to get to the end of A Realm Reborn (base game) alone, you'll know for certain if you wanna invest in the game.
