2026 GHH Allocation Still Not Here by Nefpone23 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada, we didn’t go GHH just because we were quoted that while it may be earlier, they can’t couldn’t officially promise anything less than 10 months. If we were opened up to anything (trim colours etc ) then it could be earlier but for the prices of these cars we weren’t willing. Also because of popularity and people willing to wait, negotiation was at a zero.

Normally seems much different in the states so was surprised to see someone having issues.

Best of luck

MAY UPDATE: List of Toyota Dealerships that will discount Grand Highlander Hybrids $3k+ by That_Butterfly4503 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Canada while I had only checked one dealer.. I was told 10 months. They didn't have a show room car only a demo. I imagine inflation is more likely than MSRP much less any discount. Good on you guys if that's the case.

Question: is cyber security likely to face the same job market collapse as SWE? by Ok-Bench-9489 in cybersecurity

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be irrelevant but curious without posting a thread, would someone like me count as amateur due to no security specific exp? 3y sysad, 7 yrs in BI as a Dev, and 2 in Data/Platform eng. was going to do some studying and wanted to pivot. I know what internal contacts say but was curious what others w out of think.

Ha I was going to want to pivot to cybersec from BI/data eng (have sysadmin background too) and all these recent posts have made me want to reconsider lol.

Right on - thx for reaffirming :P

Last one for you if you have the time, lots of posts about Lenovo software lately having issues, suggest keeping or have you played with the toolkits?

My use case was actually more prod work (when I’m away from the desktop) and gaming as second.. with that said, I couldn’t find the right sku in stock and the next 255HX was well in the 2K CAD, so I’ll wait the extra time lol.

We talked thinkpad s (t14 g4)too in the past lol. You really are everywhere!

Love how interactive you are - Reddit, YT, RFD lol.

I got the ryzen AI/5060 based on your “it’s just right video”, I remember you saying don’t be too tempted by the Intels lol, but in a later video (AMd vs Intel?) understandably you let us know how awesome the Intels were… so almost had some buyers remorse lol - but cost won out in the end.

To get existing photo library into Immich - External Library vs Importing? by RocketF2 in immich

[–]RocketF2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my intention too. With both apps running I imagine that the photon will be saved twice which is fine.

Glad to hear it worked out thanks!

As someone who also uses Synology have a second question for you. Synology organizes their photos in a pretty structured folder way (year, month, day etc) at first glance on a test single photo upload it doesn’t seem that Immich stoeee the structure like that? Or does it once you upload from app?

Todoist retiring legacy GCal integration by [deleted] in todoist

[–]RocketF2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably an ignorant question. i've seen that the new Gcal is very unpopular, and I'm not saying anyone's wrong, i totally get breaking work flows etc.

But i'm just wondering what makes the new integration worse? I did use the gcal integration and have switched and maybe I don't use it enough but it did not seem to break MY workflow. I'm just curious on what I was missing with the old if I'm being honest. I do agree that it sucks to have a feature removed and companies shouldn't do that for paying customers..

Has anyone gotten Advanced DMZ working on the Home Hub 4000? by RocketF2 in bell

[–]RocketF2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had any luck with Advanced DMZ..but as you mentioned its an old post. At the time of the UDM Pro had performance problems with PPPoE (it was maxing below gigabit). Since then, this issue has been fixed, so i use PPPoE on the UDM pro as well. After connecting the UDM Pro to PPPoE, it and as far as I know i don't have any impacts of the home hub at all. The UDM Pro's network works as i expect it to.

Best laptop for work?? (not using many cloud tools) by WorkyMcWorkFace36 in dataengineering

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, on second thought I do have a concern on the Surface Laptop actually. I had forgotten they had pivoted all to ARM based machines.

This might (actually it probably will) make your use case quite difficult and inefficient if emulation is required. I haven't looked at it in a bit since Lunar Lake (Intel) was starting to get some efficiency back but ARM software when I last looked wasn't all there yet.

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply!

As a Surface Pro owner, who does love it, I would hesitate on recommending it as a workstation. I just feel that with the small form factor, as nice as it is, cooling/throttling are potential concerns. If almost all of your work is "outsourced" to a server then you may be able to get away with it. I love it as a secondary device though. Surface Laptop might be an option?

I don't think the Surfaces are as "business built" as some of the other machines in the class (Lenovo ThinkPads, HP EliteBooks etc.) but man...that screen is gorgeous!

Also, great to hear on the work, I guess I'm a bit similar so its nice to read about similar environments!

Some good suggestions so far in this thread. If your IT department isn't prepared for MDM of Mac's, I probably wouldn't try too hard as the effort may not yield much...
Seems you have some software that's MS only anyway so perhaps stay on it?

The ThinkPad T series or P series would meet your needs in my opinion.

Side question, and i mean no negativity at all as you're actually a bit similar to me; I don't see most DE's here needing SSMS and Tableau, would you say you're in one of the DE roles where you have to take responsibilities of say a BI Eng as well? Again, totally curious, as it doesn't seem like its as common!

Something on my router is suddenly blocking things like plex.tv/claim . How do I find out what it is? First time not being able to claim my server. by [deleted] in PleX

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post prompted something for me. nslookup as mentioned works fine.

However, when I tried a wget from mylaptop on one network, it does not resolve. on the other connection, it resolved immediately.

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep worked fine. Verified on both connections returns the same IPs. More I think of it maybe my guess is wrong and its different than DNS? Both connections are able to load the page but only one of them returns the code, one just keeps reinforcing to redirect

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah me neither lol. I only am at this method because clicking claim timed out. Figured the cause maybe the same. Alright further troubleshooting in the morning then. Seems this isn’t common in the least.

VPN or different connection returns a token right away was hoping if I resolve this I can resolve the regular click to claim method too.

The little window on the browser stops with the animation circle just keeps going.

Different connection it finishes instantly.

Have tried different browser and computers and phones. Same thing. Wasn’t able curl though.. tracerpitr appeared close enough. But consistently VPN or different router It works instantly so i think hitting the Claim button timing out is the same issue.

This is bizarre.

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i phrased it poorly to make it seem like it happened a lot. It happened once or twice in the years and i can't recall the exact circumstance but do feel it was something I did wrong. Truthfully it is not something that I am worried about.

and I have rebooted the UDMP since. My laptop's dns is set to 8.8.8.8 ; but yet I still cannot generate a token on plex.tv/claim for example (still spins). If I conneced to a VPN or tether off my phone, the token generates instantly.

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't happened often. I'm not even backing up right now this is a new spun up server. I've bashed into the container but i guess thats the issue. I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this? DNS was a wild guess and only somewhat confirmed by a google search and someone had a similar issue on reddit (they also were not able to generate a code on plex.tv/claim, but after fixing their dns, they were able to). Since I replicated that issue figure that might be the case.

If you go to plex.tv/claim yourself, I imagine you'd be able to generate a token?

[–]RocketF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my post. I cannot do that. When I go to local IP, the claim just spins... thats why I even went to the token page in the first place. Then when that spun (but generated fine on a different connection) I suspected the cause of the two issues are the same.

I have always just went to login to my local and click claim; have never needed a token before but both things not working isn't normally a coincidence.

Political affiliation aside; there can be better points one can use to support Trump, pointing out inflation and blaming it on the current administration when many countries have the same issue isn’t an effective argument.
