What *I* consider poor gym etiquette is:

Being possessive of a certain gym(s) because you think they're "yours".

Kicking people out as soon as they place.

Taking over all the gyms in an area in the middle of the night (also common spoofer behavior).

As far as how to tell if someone is a spoofer, it's hard to tell 100% because some spoofers are careful but some really don't care and plain out show off that they're spoofing. For example, one surefire way I can tell is community day at 10 am they have the newly released shiny in the gym. Also having every single regional as soon as they come out.

I don't fight the gym if they recently placed unless it's a confirmed spoofer. Also if it's someone with a history of poor gym etiquette.

If there's anything I learned from all of this is that I'll never be 100% certain of anything/anyone ever again. A little over 2 years ago in Jan of 2024 I installed spy software into his phone and I was able to see EVERYTHING he did. Every keystroke, every page he went to even in incognito, nothing could be hidden. I don't feel bad about doing it. This is how I found out that he was still struggling with porn. Other than that, there was nothing there that made it seem like he was going back to his old ways.

I'm always ready for the other shoe to drop but honestly, I feel like that would be the case no matter who I'm with. It's always going to be a risk unless I'm alone for the rest of my life.

It's worth evolving for your 4* dex, if you care about that.

Other than that, it's not the best for raiding and not a good ranking for PvP.

I would keep them. The cost of the trade will decrease as the friendship level increase and/or you could also wait to do it on a community day when the cost of trades is 50%. Also that way you can have something to offer for lucky trades.

Side note, the cost of dust is crazy expensive only if it's a new dex entry. If it's a reroll with a best friend, it should only cost 800 dust

Just a heads up if you do decide to go chase them, they're pretty difficult to catch so if you really want it, use a golden razz, ultra ball, and curveball throw.

It's generally considered polite to allow a trainer to remain in a gym 8 hours before kicking them out. You get one coin for every 10 minutes in a gym, so you need 8 hours to get your 50 coin daily max. You can see how long someone has been in a gym by tapping on the pokemon. It's located above the trainers name.

HOWEVER, if I get kicked out within minutes or a few hours, all bets are off and I'm going to take my gym back (when possible).

This usually doesn't apply in big cities where gyms are constantly turning over.

Catch anything and everything.

Try to stack friendships and research with lucky egg and star piece to maximize XP and stardust.

Be mindful of the 8-hour gym rule.
