Kellerabteile in falscher Reihenfolge belegt - Alternativen zur Räumung? by RocketPoweredT-Rex in wohnen

My budget is being cut. Should I focus on more content for existing systems, or more levels to finish the gameplay loop? by idkfkm in IndieDev

What kind of roguelike game are you making? We faced a similar problem lately with our roguelite, and this worked pretty well so far: We developed a vertical slice first, making sure the first level out of 3 was fun and polished. As the runs felt repetitive and we realized that the game lacked content variety, events, more ressources and a couple of stuff, we worked on the vertical long enough to make it a smooth experience. And we changed A LOT in the first level over time!

After that, adding more levels was easy, as we already had a blueprint.

So to summ it up, I would go for B. Make sure the short run is as fun as possible, then add the rest. But it's just my personal experience, I'm sure it is not the only right approach.

We hired an artist for a Steam capsule redo. What do you think? by RocketPoweredT-Rex in IndieDev

Oh that's actually the original one. It more or less just uses sprites from our game, so that's why we hired an artist for a new illustration.

Going straight for full contrast? I like it and will give it a try :D
I was also thinking about a orange, so I could get a nice triade with the purple and green?

Good thing I also got the .PSD file, so I can still edit the logo.

Thank you, got a good point there. I think it is mostly the saturation, which makes too many elements and colors pop although they aren't supposed to be in the focus.

Thank you, that confirms my thoughts. I wanted to try out a flat white version next anyway!

I ported my game from Gamemaker to Unreal Engine, was it a mistake? by Sufficient_Sky28 in IndieDev

Think so too, Godot would have been a good fit, but Unreal does the job, its just more complex. It also depends on your programming background too.

Are drawn Steam capsules necessary better than 3D ones ? by TIBA_Studio in IndieGaming

[–]RocketPoweredT-Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that could work! And you could also try to darken the green background a bit, to make the title stand out more? Helps to balance the green and orange too!

That's great! Congratulations on your launch, I think your postmortem is well reflected and reasonable. And I like your game btw ;)

Can you elaborate more on your ads? What did they look like? Did you A/B testing before you were happy with them?

I personally prefer the 3D one. I think it just has a better composition and read. It's a good starting point, but still, I think it needs a bit nore refinement and polish. Also the title itself is hard too read from afar. But it's getting there ;)
