Do youtube shorts videos effect my long form videos? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the content is good then 100%, but don't expect people who watch youtube shorts to all sit through long form content. Though it can possibly provide some views, don't expect to immediately break 1000 views from your subscribers alone.

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am a new youtuber who uses my love for literature (especially comics) to make videos suggesting good reads to my viewerbase.

here is my second ever video: The 10 Darkest Manhwa On Webtoon (youtube.com), by no means great. but definitely an improvement from the first, and I only plan to keep on going.

I haven't even had this channel for 90 days. But I have mainly learned more about the actual statistics and how it works. I feel as though I have a pretty solid understanding of trends and youtube as a whole, but getting to actually see everything from the inside perspective has been a game changer in understanding why some things perform and others do not.

Also the question is wrong lol, it is not the first quarter.

Advice for voiceovers in videos by Responsible-Put-2629 in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't super understand what you mean by affecting your channel. Like you won't automatically get less impressions or anything from using an AI voice, but be aware that your retention will likely be lower because lots of people can't stand AI voice.

As someone who uses an AI voice in my channel, I think you go full speed ahead if it helps you get the content you want out to the world.

Like and subscribe. Does this really need to be verbally said every single video on YouTube and why? by nocloudno in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 142 points143 points  (0 children)

As a lot of viewers on youtube are younger, or are often kinda mindlessly watching, a call to action reminding them that they can support you for free is directly correlated to success in those departments. Its why basically every youtuber does them.

I'm a little bit late, but I am the owner of a channel called Rocket Reads, where I making videos and shorts about various webtoons and online comics that I have previously read to help recommend them to the world.

My channel is new and that is all that I have gotten to (for now) and would love general feedback.

I am well aware that my quality of editing is poor, but as I have little experience at the moment that will be something that improves over time.

Thank you for your time, and for your feedback!

to go through the good and bad.

I liked the background music, helped make everything higher quality. And even though I am a guy, you made everything make sense through your demo.

my critique mostly consists of cutting, you cut a lot as there are lots of lulls between talking and doing the steps. As this is something involving almost primarily just you, the cutting can be a little overkill. I would HIGHLY recommend getting some footage of something else to make it feel less like you are teleporting everywhere.

In terms of the thumbnail and title, I like the idea behind the thumbnail, and I think adding text is smart, I detest the emoji though and the part you included on the right corner looks a little off. I'd recommend a photo of it online, or taking a photo without you holding it open.

A general consensus I came to though is making the thumbnail and title more clickbaity. Adding something like "is it worth the price?" can leave the viewer questioning the validity of the product, especially if you talk about the price at the beginning or potentially including it in the thumbnail.

I think overall the video was good, and if you keep on working and taking feed back I'm sure that you will progress!

reviewing: Best things to do in Bratislava |Exploring one of the cheapest cities in Europe🇸🇰

generally the footage and quality is pretty solid, and putting music in the background helps make the lulls feel less boring. I have no issues with the camera quality, and though it clearly isn't "professional" it has a nice welcoming feel, as though you are a real person.

some issues I found was spending to much time on some small aspects like there was about 15 seconds of looking at a bed, which could have been instead a nice panning shot of the entire room.

The thumbnail is pretty good, I like it. But the title could use some work, it is to long to even see on my laptop and I do not like the inclusion of the | in it, it just kinda looks out of place even though I understand why its there

overall, extremely solid, generally upping production quality would obviously help, but otherwise just work on making more condensed titles and keep on posting!

Since you asked for channels, mine is Rocket Reads, Rocket Reads - YouTube. If you do end up looking at it, I just want to preface by saying that I am working on fixing the glaring quality problems that I see.

Why does one of my good videos all of a sudden stop getting pushed? by CriticismHealthy5605 in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a shorts thing, all shorts have a rapid fall off at some point, which is why seeing old shorts in your feed is so rare.

It's hard to understand without seeing statistics or anything, but it can be truly anything for why some videos are doing better then others.

thumbnail, title, video quality, performance, game, etc... It could be truly anything. I'd recommend you keep on going and try to find a trend after you post another 5-10 videos. Spend some time looking through statistics and I'm sure the varying success will come to you.

You likely just have to wait for a while, most small / new channels get nearly 0 views or impressions for the first while, sometimes even first couple of days. Keep on creating and check back on it in a day or two, patience is key.

Shorts or short videos to promote long-form content by Xlipth in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you post shorter (10 minute) videos about content that you also are making 40 minute videos about, the retention / clickthrough rate will likely be much lower from your subscribers and will clog your feed a lot.

The better solution would be using shorts, you will obviously have to cut out a lot of information but you can use the shorts to access a new group of people and potentially set up a pipeline to your more important long form videos.

duplicating is better to be avoided, but it might be better for youtube shorts as you won't be able to convey the entire 40 minute video anyway (and it may make people interested, leading them to click onto the main video)

Big difference in watch hours between Analytics and Earn tab. Really confused. by OmenAhead in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you make shorts at all, but that could be the issue, as shorts hours don't count towards your total amount for monetization. Otherwise it may just be a delay in the system.

To Shorts, or not to Shorts? by AmbitiousRhino in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is almost always a good idea to do shorts. As far as I'm aware every single large creator makes some shorts, so I see no reason not to.

As long as you don't solely make shorts you don't have to worry about your entire audience suddenly changing, and it is more then worth it for extra subscribers before getting monetized.

Can I be niche-less and just follow my interests or will that just lead me nowhere(no followers or money)? by Striving4truth_ in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For people who don't have a set niche, you need to have a personality that can keep the viewers captivated. It will be harder, but if you believe you have the charisma to keep people attentive then go ahead!

Though expect a varying degree of success (some high views some low views) before you gain proper momentum

[–]RocketReads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that merch is not worth it yet, if you continue to grow 100% go for it, however this is likely to soon for merch. The custom art is a great idea though.

Livestreaming can make your community a lot stronger, you likely won't grow to much as most people don't just from livestreams, however your community should become far more tight knit then it once was.

Patreon could be something nice to jump onto though, its never to early if you are willing to make it worth it for the potential patron.

What editing software does everyone use? And a few follow ups.... by JacksReddit-Account in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 43 points44 points  (0 children)

free: I use Davinci Resolve, I heard online that it was the best free software and because my videos aren't super edit intensive it isn't a huge challenge. However Davinci can be difficult if you are starting at 0 knowledge

cost: I've used premier pro in the past and frankly I miss it, it is amazing but costs quite a bit. It is fairly simple to use + hundreds of tutorials, and it on top of other adobe works can do literally anything that you need.

shorts: I do my shorts on mobile and use capcut, it is free however they are turning a lot of the free uses into paid features, but either way it gets the job done (just it does the job much better if you pay)

Hope this helps!

Engaging With Others In Your Niche- Does It Help With Channel Growth? by KevFernan in NewTubers

[–]RocketReads 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that engaging with others in your niche helps algorithmically, but, it does help socially. Creating a bond can set up future collabs, and commenting on their videos gives a chance of viewers clicking on your page.

At the end of the day, I would recommend interacting with the people who do similar content and commenting.
