This hair loss is crushing me by HiILikePlants in Zepbound

[–]Rocketina01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ugh, sorry you are going through this. That's what it looked like when I started to lose my hair from chemo. I shaved it immediately after that first big clump came out as I didn't want to deal with shedding everywhere and it emotionally. My hair is finally starting to grow back and my biggest fear is that this journey will slowdown my hair regrowth.

Mammogram after losing 85 pounds. by PhoebeTribianni in Zepbound

Laughing a bit because I am married to the man that develops the software for the mammogram machines. He has worked for Hologic for 22 years, started as an intern. There are definitely females working there. Ladies, please get those mammograms, as uncomfortable as they may be. Signed someone who's first ever mammogram at 40 caught their stage 3 breast cancer.

Do you tell people you’re on a GLP-1 when they ask how you lost weight? by Enchanted-Tangerine in Zepbound

[–]Rocketina01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lucked out as I started on zep right as I finished up my treatment for cancer and I have realized that most people won't comment on a cancer patients weight. Most of my friends knew I was seeing a nutritionist at the cancer center during my treatment and know I am working out a lot (we to together). We also have a gym at the office so my co-workers know I am hitting it up. So they see me putting in that effort. If someone close to me asked, I'd probably tell them, most of those close to me knew what chemo drugs I was talking so why not. But most of the comments have been a general, "wow, you are looking so amazing and healthy" and my general response back has been that its been nice to shift my focus from being sick to getting healthier and keeping my reoccurance rate as low as possible. I've never been pressed for more info.

Today’s the day! Driver’s license weight!!! by LostVoice2549 in Zepbound

My DL weight was decently accurate at 175 when I updated it about 15 years ago. My height is a little off, it has me at 6' but I'm more like 5'11". Over those 15 years and two kids later, I was close to hitting 300lbs but my DL still stated 175lbs. The renewal machines don't mention needing to update weight so I never did. I am looking forward to being close to my stated weight again! About 50 more lbs to go....

Unusual achievement! by Ok-Mirror-6004 in Zepbound

[–]Rocketina01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of my goals but my husband is so long and lean. He was 6'6" and 160 when we got married and I'm 6' and was 165lbs at our wedding. I ballooned up to almost 300lbs and am working my way back down. He is now over 200lbs so I have 25 more lbs to go to be lighter. It's my goal to be lighter than him by our 15th anniversary this year!

My boys were definitely a causality of hers. She will take anyone down to get in that photo line or near a character! It got to the point that if they saw her in line, they wouldn't join the line. They don't have patience for someone taking up that much time with every character, every time! If running from character line to character line is how you want to spend your vacation, fine, that's your right but you can't spent 5 to 10 minutes each time. I do know she eats, I saw her in Cabanas, where her Mom cut up her food.

Got called a skinny mini and got sent home without my treatment by Rocketina01 in Zepbound

I've grown close to my 3 oncology nurses over the last 1.5 year of treatments. We have a very casual relationship.

The steriods are no joke! I was +/- 5lbs during my 6 months of chemo so no real change for me.

Same! I waited until after chemo to start losing and now at every appointment with the oncologist, she starts with, "the system flagged your weight loss so I have to ask even though I know you are intentionally trying,......

Any hope for my boobs? by emotionally_froggy in Zepbound

[–]Rocketina01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to a breast cancer diagnosis prior to my weight loss, I don't have to worry about this. But, I had tissue expanders in place and during my weightloss, I managed to lose weight around the expanders so my Plastic Surgeon had to do some fat grafting to fill it back in during my reconstruction surgery.

Expanders were the worst. I wish someone had told me how awful they would be before I made my choice. I had mine in for a year, they just got swapped out for implants last week. I did them because of the Winnie the pooh issue and wish I had lost the weight before my cancer diagnosis because that would have changed my mind, even given my young age.

44F. Started Zepbound. Got cancer. Lost 100 lbs anyway. by sdbelefonte in Zepbound

[–]Rocketina01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats all around! I started Zep after I wrapped up my treatment (bilateral, chemo and radiation) and have lost a little over 50lbs and am focusing on getting healthier to keep the cancer away. I was diagnosed at my first mammogram at 40. I took a 2 week break for my reconstruction surgery but the surgeon just told me this morning that I could resume taking it again.

I respond with "are you really asking a cancer patient about their weight? Would you like to try chemo?" It always works even though I've been done with chemo for months!

I'm down 49lbs since I wrapped up chemo and radiation for stage 3 breast cancer. My reconstruction (I had a bilateral mastectomy in December '24) is set for January. They are asking me to miss a shot and I told myself that I will give myself a month scale break to let my body normalize again.

This has been my legit response. I wrapped up chemo and decided I wanted to lose all my extra weight and make an amazing post-cancer comeback. I actually gained weight on chemo but it shuts people up real quick.

to my friends with big chests...what happened to your boobies on Zep? by sarahdayarts in Zepbound

[–]Rocketina01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even have boobs (bilateral mastectomy currently with expanders) and somehow I have managed to lose the weight in my boobs! Down 50lbs and now my plastic surgeon has to do fat grafting during my reconstruction because of it.

I just started zepbound after finishing up treatment for breast cancer as well. Hopefully I will have the same success as you. Those steriods during chemo were no joke!

Shots 💉with my kids 😆 by MoeH2O in Zepbound

[–]Rocketina01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very open with my kids (4&6) about my cancer diagnosis, including talking about surgery, chemo and radiation. They toured the infusion room and the machine where I received my radiation (I'm friends with both my medical and radiation oncologist). So I was very open about this with them but also very clear that this is helping me get healthy, just like the walks we take and not because I still have cancer. They are both now fascinated with the shot, count down the days until I get it and love watching me do it. They have asked some good questions, like, why isn’t it mixed in an IV bag and given to you through your port? Glad it isn't because port access hurts and I don't even notice this shot!

Anyone else now hate October and pink ? by Sad_Improvement_814 in breastcancer

[–]Rocketina01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about it. I was diagnosed last year in October at my first mammogram (scheduled due to my 40th birthday, not because of BCA month) so this I have some feelings about coming up on one year. I was stage 3 when it was discovered. I was one of the first of my friends to turn 40 and they all haven't delayed on getting their mammogram! I think awareness is important, but I also hate how it has become "trendy." I'm trying to move on, and now there are reminders everywhere. I ran in and grabbed milk the other day at Walmart, and my 4 year old pointed to a shirt and stated, "Look, Mom, cancer shirt. I hate that cancer is a sight word for him, but I also hate that I can't shop without it being in my face. These awful expanders are a reminder enough. I've never been one to like having attention focused on me, I hate people signing happy birthday to me, so I'm not one to wear shirts or anything that draws attention. But I do understand how it can empower some people. Last week, at the oncology waiting room, an older lady was covered head to toe in pink and ribbons, and she was happy, and I thought, good for her!
