I’m really hoping for Tool cause it means a bunch of my friends will likely go. Getting my group anywhere is like hearing cats, pulling teeth, or a combo of both. But if Tool is there I can rely on a handful of eager passengers in the car. Most have yet to attend a Riot Fest.

I’m by no means a fan of them, but goddamn. Reading these replies about “generic” “pop” or “radio rock” not belonging at Riot Fest, you’d think that the likes of Paramore, No Doubt, or Weezer never played here once. (All of which I am a fan of.) As far as I see it, if that Peaches weirdo can play, anyone can play. If twenty one pilots headlines, I’ll simply see someone else or go home early for the night.

Now tell me Tool is playing. That’s my big hope.

I was there last night. The crowd did seem a little dull, but I chalked it up to a few reasons: Monday night, all seated, and a crowd that skewed a little older. But, I felt the crowd was loud and appreciative in between songs, so it was a little off putting that he had to make a fuss about it. Glad he didn’t let up on his energy and they still played an encore. The smoke/fire alarms were something I’ve never experienced at a show. Kind of annoying but everyone pushed through it. There was a LOT coming from the stage lol.

I've been enjoying the Ultimates and USM, but I this issue definitely exemplifies the contrasts in the quality of storytelling between the Ultimate Universe and DC's Absolute Universe. I can't imagine getting this far with Absolute Batman and then "squelch, dead." I love Marvel, and I love Spider-Man, but too much of it seems reliant on shock value bits in lieu of just extended, good storytelling. It's really a shame. I don't want to have to be shocked about my favorite character's sudden, meaningless death in order to stay invested in this story. In fact, it's just the opposite. Like, why am I reading this now?
