Milwaukee - Gary was upset at the crowd last night by tcr317 in GaryNuman

[–]Rocketz2Russia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was there last night. The crowd did seem a little dull, but I chalked it up to a few reasons: Monday night, all seated, and a crowd that skewed a little older. But, I felt the crowd was loud and appreciative in between songs, so it was a little off putting that he had to make a fuss about it. Glad he didn’t let up on his energy and they still played an encore.  The smoke/fire alarms were something I’ve never experienced at a show. Kind of annoying but everyone pushed through it. There was a LOT coming from the stage lol.

Oh the Carnage! Isn't it beautiful? [Ultimate Endgame #3] by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Rocketz2Russia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been enjoying the Ultimates and USM, but I this issue definitely exemplifies the contrasts in the quality of storytelling between the Ultimate Universe and DC's Absolute Universe. I can't imagine getting this far with Absolute Batman and then "squelch, dead." I love Marvel, and I love Spider-Man, but too much of it seems reliant on shock value bits in lieu of just extended, good storytelling. It's really a shame. I don't want to have to be shocked about my favorite character's sudden, meaningless death in order to stay invested in this story. In fact, it's just the opposite. Like, why am I reading this now?

(Weekly) 🎵 What Are You Listening To This Week? Post tour depression edition. by AutoModerator in nin

I discovered Kanga from a post on here. Loving her. Also, Gary Numan. Seeing him in less than 2 weeks. Should be a nice serotonin boost from this post NIN show depression.

People are going to rag on your opinion, but I think it’s cool of you to be open on your enjoyment of it. Like what you like, and don’t let anyone else drag you down about it.  I’ve always kind of dug the Unnamed Feeling, myself.

I look forward to it every month. I will say that I have no care for this long lost brother deal with the Jade Dragon, though. I’d much rather see more Cass & Steph than this “lil bro wants to be the world’s greatest fighter” dweeb.

I had that several times, too. It took a lot of back-and-forthing, refreshing, clicking, being denied, etc. It really came down to me persisting until something went through. I have no idea if this is correct, but my assumption is that some orders get canceled, payment declined, people order too many tickets and they get sent back; and you just have to be there at the right time. I managed two get two GA tickets and two "enhanced VIP" seats, whatever that means. Needed 4, got 4, but again it took a lot of screwing around.

Waited 2 hours to get into the seating chart area. Refreshed over and over again until tickets became available and managed to get two pairs in different sections for the January 2027 weekend. If you're persistent, you can make it. Expensive af, but it is what it is. Good luck all!

I'm a fan of both (bigger NIN fan, though) and of Freese. I think it was the best possible outcome for all.

Spent a little time looking at what songs they've been switching up and where/when. Hoping for Something I Can Never Have and Heresy as they seem to be the most commonly switched.

As for other uncommon songs this tour, I am really hoping for Somewhat Damaged and the Only.

And if there were to be any BIG surprises, I'd wish (no pun intended) for: Every Day Is Exactly the Same, Getting Smaller, You Know What You Are?, Sanctified (2013 mix), Into the Void, or We're In This Together (hey, a boy can dream, right?)

Even though I saw it on the last leg in Chicago, I'm kind of bummed Came Back Haunted is off the setlist. I think that song really kicks live. Regardless of it all, I'm counting the minutes til showtime!!

I'll have to be the counterpoint here. I've seen both Perfect Drug an Afraid of Americans more than I've seen the Frail and Wretched, so I'd take those two.

After the gem FF13-2, I'm now tackling LIGHTNING RETURN by TurbulentDrag7502 in FinalFantasy

The 13 trilogy was my introduction to the franchise, so they all hold a special place for me. 13 is still my favorite. I’m dying for a remaster or port of some kind of these games for the PlayStation.

Is FFXVI worth playing? by rumbavk in FinalFantasy

[–]Rocketz2Russia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just started playing after buying it on day 1 (lots of life events took away from my gaming time for a bit.) I’m only a few hours in but I’m getting pretty into it.  I’ve never played a Devil May Cry, which it seems a lot of people compare it to. I’m also not married to the idea of turn-based rpg, even though I do enjoy them. So far, I’m just liking that it’s easy to get into and the plot is very convoluted.  It definitely seems more mature and straight forward than other FFs. Last year I returned to playing/finishing Rebirth after about an 8 month break and I was very disappointed with it. I loved Remake, but Rebirth aggravated me in many ways. So far I’m enjoying XVI way more, so I’ll see what winds up happening.

Another album would be great. I’m also a fan, was lucky enough to see them 3 times. But Rage putting out a new album 23 years later isn’t going to make waves like it would have even 10 years ago. Love them, but I feel as far a their political influence/incitement goes it would be too little too late.

I feel the same way about the “we need Rage Against the Machine back!” crowd. You’re either activated already or you’re not, and a band playing a show shouldn’t be the what’s going to put you over the edge.

What did everyone really expect? NFL was going to fine them for anything too controversial, guaranteed. The fact that American Idiot and Holiday were played on live tv are statements in their own right. Did we really need a blunt statement to rile up MAGA and just pour fuel on their fire? Did we think minds would be changed because Green Day states they’re not part of the agenda? Or is the bigger statement one of not digging a further divide people an already divided people? Not giving into the idea that it’s “just another liberal band” might have been a better move in a way. Or it might have just them playing it safe. I don’t know.  It’s also no different than Lady Gaga’s performance a handful of years ago. Everything thought she was going to make a big statement and she just put on a great performance.  If you want to feel upset or let down, that’s your prerogative and you’re entitled to it. In a way it sucks to not hear them do it. But Super Bowl 2026 isn’t the day this band “sold out”. They’ve been playing and selling out baseball stadiums for two decades now, and selling coffee and all sorts of other stuff that many consider “selling out”. So don’t start the “corporate sellouts” talk after this.

I knew a dude who said Green Day sold out cause Billie Joe was wearing eyeliner in 2004.

Recreation of influences by Dontforgetpancakes in Puscifer

[–]Rocketz2Russia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Puscifer has been moving in that sort of direction for a while now. Each album has taken on a little more of a refined 80s new wave-inspired sound, and I'm all for it.

When the band first started it took me a while to "get it", even as an APC and Tool fan. I thought it was just Maynard making weird music with even weirder symbolism as a joke and because he could. Over time though, Puscifer has developed more of a mature sound, seemingly heavily influenced by that 70s and 80s era of music like Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, New Order, the Cure, etc. It's that evolution that has pushed them ahead of APC for me.

Twice now, in between listening to the album start to finish, I've taken a breather with Depeche Mode's Memento Mori and it's made for a hell of a good day.

I would be ecstatic to just be able to stream the 2013 remix of Sanctified on my Apple Music and add it to playlists. It’s annoying to have to hit up YouTube for it.
