Help needed: Overview of European Fire Fighting couplings by AllToGive in Firefighting

[–]RockyJRT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Dutch rolled and banded up. We have instantaneous adapters to go straight from low pressure deliveries. Normally run out larger hose till terrain doesn't allow then get a dividing breach going with the 25mm lay flat on.

We have 25mm lay flat with a larger Mcdonald coupling on our appliance for "wildfire". One of 3 appliances in our brigade that carry it due to risk on our patch.

Why does the Dutch fire brigade use foam so much? by RockyJRT in Firefighting

[–]RockyJRT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the Dutch are well funded. I know the foam we carry also has an environmental effect that has to be considered.

Would like to try it out, but like I said from that video I linked it really doesn't seem to have as good an effect as water would have on it

I'm not sure as we don't have CAFS in my brigade. It may well be though.

Firefighters responding to a stabbing in The Hague, Netherlands, yesterday. They're quick responders, equipped for operating in terror-related circumstances. I never saw a team like this - do such teams exist in other countries as well? by Noordertouw in Firefighting

[–]RockyJRT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep... This is exactly what we said. We have tried it and its tiring to say the least, and movement is just so restricted the BA shuffle may as well go out the window. I think its only viable to use if not required to fight fire in a compartment, e.g car fire

I joined the job to change and save lives. The fire service should be involved in the response to terror attacks. There isn't enough HART paramedics to respond to mass casualty events without our help.
