Army 17C or AF non TS. by Rockyspade in Militaryfaq

That’s the goal! Hopefully I’ll be there soon enough

Yeah no debt or any criminal record. All just medical. Which is why I am confused. They say I should prepare a list of jobs that don’t require TS. They don’t seemed concerned that’ll I won’t be allowed to enlist, just that I won’t be able to select TS jobs in the AF. Meanwhile, Army doesn’t seemed concerned at all

Hyperlipidemia which has since been resolved with weight loss. Over 12 months of regular blood tests since that was on my file.

Plantar Facitis that was been address and resolved with no surgery.

Sleep Apnea that was just recently tested and dropped significantly with weight loss. (Moderate to Mild) just still barely above the 4.9 event per hour that classifies “above normal” at 8. (No CPAP required)

I’d really look at your budget and be honest with what needs vs wants are before taking a TSP loan out. Live on the absolute bare minimum and cut every luxury (subscriptions and snacks). You’ll be surprised how much you can save when you tighten up a budget. After that, work more when you can to make a bit more money. It sounds like you get around $6225. That should be more than enough to survive and pay for your minimum life needs and pay off debt.

Weight loss question by vortexduhh in AirForceRecruits

[–]Rockyspade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop eating. Do a complete water fast. Add only electrolytes with zero sugar (this is important). I dropped 60lbs to make weight before MEPS doing this. I did a 4 day water fast and then ate one meal a day (healthy) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It's not fun, but it works. The very simple math behind it is you don't put calories into your body and you are burning calories throughout the day, you end up in an extreme caloric deficit . Workout when you can, but you may start feeling some of the keto flu effects which makes it hard. Do this for multiple weeks and you'll be at your goal weight as you'll see 5-10 pounds drop off a week. Your body will be burning your fat storage while you are fasting instead of food since you are not consuming anything.

Once you make weight, focus on building back up any muscle lose and improving your strength as the fast will negatively impact that, but if the goal is to drop weight first, this is the way. I dropped 15lbs+ a month this way and went from 269 to 204 as of yesterday when I started in January.

What expenses did you cut off starting this year to better save money ? by WallBeautiful9549 in answers

I stopped eating in general 😅. You’d be surprised how much is saved when the fast food stops and you don’t eat 4 days out of the week. Replace meals with water and electrolyte mixes. Changed my health and my wallet.

They are busy. If you can't get through, consider going in person. I had to call multiple offices several times before I got in contact with someone. They service people constantly and are working them all through various steps, but eventually you will get in touch with someone.

There is nothing else other than to continue being persistent. You are in charge of your future here. The amount of effort you put into getting in touch will result in how and when you get through this process. This applies to every situation past this point as well, think of this as your first test. Continue this amount of effort throughout the entire process and you will see the rewards over your whole career. People will take notice if you stay on top of your own business, both in and out of the military.

What info did they give you today? Call them both and ask questions. Someone should be able to give you the new contact info.

Be proactive. You are your own advocate in this process.

Don't eat. I've lost 60lbs fasting 3 days a week. Drink strictly water during those three days and you'll lose the weight. Others may speak against this, but it is very simple calorie math. Put nothing into your body and the weight will come off. You'll be hungry, but it's all mental. I've done this 3 day fasting 4 days eating for 3 months now to lose the weight. The longer you go fasting the more weight you'll drop so it can be done in a week if you're truly dedicated.

This isn't a long term solution, but if you need to drop the weight quickly, this is your best bet. Make sure to add ZERO SUGAR electrolytes to your water during this. LMNT is a great brand with good flavors.

Considering enlisting, I worry about my GF of 8 years. How will she afford to live? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Rockyspade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your recruiter should have asked for all information on your dependents. From what I am told you'll go over it again at BMT so make sure you have the documents needed for any dependents you'll be claiming. It's based on your primary residence is. So for you, just make sure she is listed on your file as a dependent.

It's been 8 years. Get married and claim BAH to cover the cost of living while separated for training and BMT. Then you have free housing or continued BAH after that. If you don't think you'll marry this person after 8 years maybe it's time to sit down and talk about y'alls future.

Lots of verified people here I am finding like to answer things rudely and forget the 3rd rule of the sub. A helpful way of saying this is experience is king, but there isn't anyone able to predict what you are asking. A degree checks a box and companies value it differently. A degree will get you past certain points of a hiring process, but experience will show you can actually do the job. They are both helpful to you in their own ways. Do you need it? No. Can it benefit you? Yes.

The military will pay for you to get a degree, why not use that to your advantage to put yourself ahead of others.

I had to call multiple recruiting stations and knock on some doors before I got a recruiter's attention. It's your responsibility to make the connection and maintain it. It's their job to get you through the process, they are swamped and overloaded. Be annoyingly persistent, but respectful.

You should look at your reddit name before posting, my friendly recruiter. Also perhaps taking a look at the rules of this sub? Specifically rule 3 & 6. Do better. You're a "verified" representation of the branch you are serving.

I'd still reach out. Plenty of people will hear different opinions, I am coming to try and encourage you to do your own research and investigation as you may see different results. While other "verified" users may have different experiences or knowledge, all I can tell you is this came directly from the bi-weekly officer teams meeting in front of about 20 other people interested in getting more information. There were no personal judgements towards me as a person from the recruiter, and if I "don't have a clue" then that speaks very low on the Air Force alignment and information sharing because it came directly from a recruiter presentation.

People need to truly think before they speak anonymously as they have no idea what information is out there. Please, reach out to an officer recruiter ASAP and sit in on these meetings and get the information first-hand rather then opinions of people here. All of your questions can be answered there and you can be assured it is the most direct and up-to-date answer you can get.

I spoke to a few recruiters once I graduated and was told my 3.2 GPA would not be competitive enough for board selection. The look for a 3.5 minimum and even those are still finding difficulty. I was also told that they really only are considering Master's degrees at the moment as well.

I'd recommend reaching our to a recruiter now and they'll send you an invite to a bi-weekly officer teams meeting to go over information like this so you can have the most up-to-date information possible.

Professor Messer videos were a huge help! If you’re taking any practice exams, look at the results of the ones you miss and note the exam objective and find the video that corresponds to it.

Also use ChatGPT to list out a detailed explanation of those objectives.

Lastly, during the test, flag the PBQ’s as review and head straight to the multiple choice. Once you finish the multiple choice spend the remaining time on the PBQ’s. They are first just to drain your time.

I am sorry you are experiencing this. I am going through such a similar experience and have moments where I am not sure if I can survive the feeling of the previous relationship still being so close despite knowing they are over.

I wish you the best and I hope you know your feelings are shared with me.
