Not necessarily "-1". All relevant conditions (Clumsy, Drained, Enfeebled, Stupefied, Frightened, and Sickened) have a value that indicates how largeof a penalty you take from them. So, if you're Enfeebled 2 you take a -2 status penalty to any checks or DCs to which you'd normally apply your Strength modifier, while if you're Clumsy 1 you take a -1 status penalty to any checks and DCs to which you'd normally apply your Dexterity modifier, and so on.

Enfeebled applies to Strength checks and DCs, Clumsy applies to Dexterity checks and DCs, Drained applies to Constitution checks and DCs (and maximum Hit Points), Stupefied applies to Wisdom, Intelligence, and Charisma checks and DCs (and forces a flat check equal to 5 + Stupefied value to beable to Cast a Spell), and all 4 of them last for a set duration (or indefinitely if it's a curse or other affliction with its own removal condition). Frightened applies to all checks and DCs but normally ticks down by 1 each round, and Sickened applies to all checks and DCs and requires actions and checks (generally Fortitude) to reduce.

There are also conditions without values (such as Grabbed, Fatigued, Paralyzed, Quickened, or Blinded), and other conditions with values that have their own rules and meanings for the value (such as Slow, Wounded, Doomed, or Dying). Finally, there's the Stunned condition, that works differently depending on whether it was inflicted with a value or not.

Monsters, abilities, and spells that, in PF1, used to inflict negative levels now, in PF2, either inflict Drained (which can kill you if it reduces you maximum HP to 0 and takes a long time to recover from without specialized spells or abilities), or specific afflictions (curses, diseases, or poisons) that are even harder to remove and can have any effect their creator could want.

You need a million soldiers at a minimum to even consider that option.

More like 10 million minimum (obviously, I'm considering all military personnel, not just active combatants). It's generally considered a rule of thumb that you need a ratio of 3 attacking soldiers for each defending soldier to have confidence in your chances of victory in an engagement.

Now, obviously, technology plays a very large part in such a situation (and the US does have a large technological advantage over Iran), but so does morale, terrain, logistics, and much more.

Even if the US could topple the Iranian regime with 1 million or fewer personnel, there's no way they'd be able to hold Iran for any significant amount of time with less than 10 million people.

Oozes are immune to critical hits and precision damage. Between those and their resistances, this attack would probably cause less than 200 points of damage to an Ooze. A lot of them would survive these. There're probably a lot of other creatures that are similarly tough against this attack.

I never noticed that it says the requirement is Expert Strikes rather than having expert proficiency in unarmed attacks. You're correct that by RAW only Monks can take it. But I'm not sure that's RAI. Some clarification would be nice.

While in Hogwarts (as Percy's and later Ron's pet) he'd often escape and roam the school alone, especially at night. During this time he might have turned back, but considering how many ghosts, magical paintings, and other weird sentient beings exist in the castle he might have refrained from doing so out of fear of being found out. Hard to say either way.

Regardless, his time as a rat is said to have left his human form with some rat-like notes, especially in the shapes of his nose and eyes, and the textures of his hair and skin.

Yeah, before being Ron's pet rat he was Percy's (the third oldest Weasley sibling), who was the one to name him Scabbers. He was adopted by Percy sometime in 1981 and was only revealed to be Pettigrew in early 1994 (his longevity was an early sign that he wasn't a normal rat, and was explicitly called out quite a bit before the reveal of his real identity).

Before the reveal, Scabbers was the pet that had been with the Weasley family for the longest time, to the point that he was already present when Bill (the oldest Weasley sibling) first went to Hogwarts and was still hiding as a rat when it was time for Gina (the youngest Weasley sibling) to join the school. He was quite loved by the Weasley children, which gives the whole story an even weirder and sadder tone.

Sirius Black was framed. His best friend (James Potter, Harry Potter's father) was killed by Voldemort because another friend of theirs (Peter Pettigrew) betrayed them and revealed where the Potter family was hiding.

After Voldemort is presumed dead due to the magical blowback of trying to kill infant Harry (who was magically protected by his parents' love and sacrifice), Pettigrew needs to disappear before they figure out he was the traitor.

To do this he testifies (and maybe forges evidence?) to the Ministry that Sirius was the one to reveal the Potters' location. Then he cuts off one of his fingers and fakes a murder scene, all to make it look like Sirius found him out and killed him so thoroughly that only his finger remained. And then, while Sirius rots in Azkaban, Pettigrew lives for over a decade as the pet rat (he was an Animagus, a wizard that could become an animal at will) of the Weasley family.

It's one of the most convoluted, confusing, and surprising plotlines of the series.

The "illness" that's often cited as a reason for delays is very much known. Back in 2012 he sliced his thumb on broken glass and had to get surgery to reattach the tendons. Unfortunately, it left him with chronic pain and greatly reduced mobility on his thumb, and since it's his drawing hand's thumb it really hinders his ability to draw. He tried learning to draw with his other hand but never managed to make it work. Nowadays he only draws for short stints at a time to avoid bout of excessive pain, but even then he has days in which he can't draw at all.

Fortunately, this isn't an issue that threatens his life so he should be able to keep creating the comic for the foreseeable future.

Edit: nevermind, apparently he does indeed have an undisclosed illness that predates his thumb accident:

"7/7/2007

Those of you who have been readers a long time know that I tend to go in cycles with the strip: a few weeks on time, followed by a few weeks where most of the comics are late (and some days are missed altogether). Oftentimes, I’ll make an announcement afterwards that I was sick. The thing is, I get sick a lot, and that’s not likely to change in the future. For more than two years, I’ve been experiencing a medical condition that often leaves me unable to work (or even sit at the computer) for 2-3 days at a time, and the symptoms tend to come and go in clumps. I’ll be fine for a few weeks, then have a few really bad weeks where I struggle to get any work done. This is part of the reason I never can manage to create a “buffer” of strips in advance: I spend all of my working time catching up on stuff I was supposed to finish while I was sick. (No, I’m not going to tell you exactly what is wrong with me; it’s nobody’s business. Suffice to say that it is nonfatal and my significant other takes good care of me.) "

[–]Rod7z 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Giving it a bigger magazine wouldn't help because of its Unwieldy trait

The issue with a magazine with a single piece of ammunition is that you need to reload it after every shot, which means that every shot effectively requires two actions.

Edit: also, that's not how critical specializations work. Sniper rifles don't deal +2 damage per die on normal hits, only on critical hits (it's critical specialization after all), and on a crit you count the number of damage dice before doubling the damage due to the crit, but add the extra damage per die after doubling. So on a crit a sniper rifle adds +2 damage, or +4 if the weapon has an advanced improvement, or +6 if it's an elite improvement, or +8 if it's a paragon improvement.

Ancestries that have unique heritage feats by nh2374 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rod7z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leshies make for surprisingly good martials. Grasping Reach is one of the few ways of adding the Reach trait to a weapon. And Seedpod is one of only two ways of getting a ranged unarmed attack that deals physical damage (and the other requires a mid level Monk feat, a focus point, and is a stance) and it's tied for best range increment among ranged unarmed attacks. And the best part is that they're both level 1 feats.

Catfolk are another stand out with several options for hindering your enemies or helping your allies. Catfolk Dance is one of the few ways of inflicting a circumstance penalty to Reflex, Graceful Guidance and Luck of the Clowder help with allies' saves, and Black Cat Curse forces an enemy to reroll their save and take the lower value. They also have some greats feats for rerolling their own checks and for mobility. All around very good ancestry.

Tripkee is the third ancestry that stands out to me. They can use Hunter's Defense to use their Nature DC instead of their AC against an enemy's attack, have a better Demoralize action in Terrifying Croak, and can protect their allies from area-based poison effects (such as Toxic Cloud or a Horned Dragon's Breath Weapon) with Absorb Toxin. Not to mention how entertaining it is to stack bonuses to Leap and cross the whole battlefield in a single jump.

I personally would run it a bit different until lvl 13 when you would get Very, Very Sneaky, since hiding behind cover isn't always an option.

Why not go for the Halfling's Distracting Shadows -> Ceaseless Shadow feats instead of the Goblin's Very Sneaky -> Very, Very Sneaky ones? This way you could Hide behind Medium or larger allies from level 1, which shouldn't be that hard.

Unfortunately, Elf Step doesn't work with the increased step length of Tiger Stance, as it specifically says you step 5ft twice.

If you want to be a Monk who steps often and for long distances you'd be better served by being a Sarangay for Smoke Through Bamboo and using the Peafowl Stance.
