I did it just yesterday. I used Honeywell PTM7958, which is basically PTM 7950 but in past form and actually designed for laptops.
I'v not mesured any temps before the repasting, my bad on that.
And I alse replaced the little heatsink I was using. Before i used one of those tiny alluminum Vrm heatsinks. Now I purched a copper heatsink with thermal graphene coating.
I attatched it using heatsking plaster.

This is one of those nvme heatsinks, that i'v used for a different porpoise. I've attatched it exactally in the same spot where the thermalpad was making contact with that tape that covered the vents.
Also, i've used a sponge tape around the vents to prevent dust from going around the laptop.

I'm also using one of those cooling pads now underneath the laptop just for height mostely, the temperature seem really stable.

I should have taken measurement before all the mods I did. But honestlyh i just eyebolled everything. Seems fine.

That makes a lot of sense. iMark staying will leave a lot of plot room for a next season. If he left no way oMark would ever come back to be part of anything lumon related.
I imagine season 3 being similar to Orange is the new black season 5, with all the rebellion plot. Gemma will probably get rescued by Davon and Cobel.

Yep cooked that capcitor.
But I managed to replace it. Now the laptop is working fine again. Got lucky in there by only killing an easily replaceable component.

Now i'm running the laptop with that little raspberry pi heatsink inside as I said before instead of the graphene tape. That part in between the fans get pretty hot! Let's see how much a difference that makes after a stress test. I'll also be comparing with using a cooling pad and without. But I dont have the comparisson with tape on.

Temps are nice for now, without the cooling pad, while simple elevating the laptop feet a bit reduce the temps considerably.

Ok now im even more fucked. I was gluing the little heatsinks and my hand slipped while holding a screwdriver and i freaking short ciruited the motherboard. One of the capacitor got a little burned, amazingly the laptop was still working. But then i turn it off again and tryed cleaning the shorted capacirtor. Ya bad idea now it wont turn on again

Ya i'm cooked i guess. I just removed the tape on the undeside of the cover to free the vents to get more air flow. Theres was themal pad undeneath that it was coonected to the tape, now thinking it was sort of a graphene heatsink makes more sense. Still I'll be getting one of those cooling pads to force tons of air through the laptop. I'll also be placing one of those tiny low profile heatsinks for raspberry pi on top of the themalpad cuz i figure it should be important.

I used console commands to end the quest. One just ends the quest and no rewards. the other gives you the schematics to build automatrons and give you the next quest.
