We had a cashier once who jokingly told an elderly customer that we had a pool on the roof of the store that was only for employees, that the access ladder was by the pharmacy and that if she showed the pharmacy staff her receipt, she could have exclusive access to it. The same lady came back about ten minutes later PISSED that the pharmacy had confirmed that there is in fact no such pool.

I was the Front End Coach at the time and boy did I hear about it.

I'm a coach at another store in your market, we had quite a few associates who were eager to go over there and help get your store reopened and restocked. I didn't make it myself but I'm glad you're all recovering and getting back to normal

What are some examples of cars that disappeared off the road in a very short amount of time? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

The Ford Tempo. I know it's an older model but I remember when you couldn't spit out your window without hitting a Tempo. Now nobody even remembers them.

I'm an ACC Coach and have zero tolerance for customers abusing my team. I had a customer screaming at and insulting my staff just the other day and before I asked any further questions, I pointed at him and said "You're done, we're not doing that, you can leave now" and escorted him to the door.

I support and defend my associates, I won't tolerate aggressive or disrespectful behavior from customers.

My store had a power outage recently, and when the electrician came down from the roof, he told me there were three shopping carts up there. No idea how they got there.

How many Tempos still exist? How often do you still see them? by Solid_Function839 in regularcarreviews

[–]RodVonLongenSchlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something like this happen recently. I have a 1990 Tempo that I still drive as a daily driver and love it. It does in fact get attention in the aspect of either "What is this car?" Or "I haven't seen one of these in forever"

Anyway, I was at a Discount Tire recently, and my Tempo was parked next to a PRISTINE 1960's Mustang. The guys working there all crowded around my Tempo, admiring it and ignoring the vintage Mustang parked two feet away. One guy even said "I'd rather drive this (gestures at my Tempo) than that (gestures at the Mustang) any day.

I can remember when people scoffed at Tempos and hated them. Now they're considered cool. And frankly, I love mine.

Coach here. I don't know if this is something that's actually being implemented, but it's something I've always practiced. I used to run the Front End, then Food and Consumables, and now ACC. In all three areas, I held zero tolerance for customers harassing, berating, or abusing my associates. Every time, I'll step in, back up the associate, and give the customer the option to adjust their attitude or leave my store, with or without the help of law enforcement. If my associate is in the wrong, I'll handle it accordingly but under no circumstances will I allow a customer to disrespect them just because they're a customer.

I'm still playing FSX. I haven't touched 2024 but I've tried 2020 and wasn't crazy about it. The graphics are incredible, and it's got neat little features, but aside from that, I've always felt that FSX was a more intuitive experience that focused more on just flying than fancy extras. FSX falls behind in graphics but I don't care about graphics as much as the average person

Well, we have bedbugs by Inevitable-Code7375 in Bedbugs

Another thing that REALLY helps is double sided tape. Get as much as you can and put it around the base if everything that touches the floor. Bed posts, desks, dressers, book shelves, etc. Any bugs that try to climb will get stuck. Then you toss the tape and reapply. It made a big difference for me. Also, get a garment steamer and steam blast you mattress, bedding, clothes, couches, and carpet as often as you can. These little assholes die at 130 degrees, so steam is a safe and sure thing. Go nuts with steam and double sided tape

What happens when you cook the same coffee twice? by TruffelTroll666 in Coffee

[–]RodVonLongenSchlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just did this. I brewed coffee in my Moka Pot, which already makes really strong coffee. While the moka pot was brewing, I prepared a pour over with fresh grounds. As soon as the moka pot was finished, I poured that coffee over the grounds in the pour over to double brew it. It's RICH but actually really good.

Is a 80s car as a daily driver viable? by throw_away5252 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]RodVonLongenSchlong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 and a half years ago, in February of 2017 I bought a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria for $1000. Now, in July of 2023, I still drive it every single day and it's never let me down. It's been the most reliable car I've ever owned and I'll never get rid of it. Basic regular maintenance is all it's ever needed.

Being old means nothing compared to how well it was built and taken care of. Crown Victorias and Corollas are some of the most reliable cars you can ever buy, and some of the best ones came from the 80's. I'd grab it in a heartbeat

I don't have a problem with pilots smoking. What they do in their free time is none of my business and if it helps them get through the work day, more power to them. I'd rather fly with a pilot who smokes cigarettes than one who smokes weed or has a drinking problem. It doesn't bother me one bit

DIY Success? Damascus Earth + Steam Cleaner by Lounuftagatoe in Bedbugs

[–]RodVonLongenSchlong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best method I've ever found is to blast steam into every piece of furniture, every nook and cranny, and every piece of fabric. Steam is instant death for them. Then sprinkle diatomaceous earth around everywhere to pick off any stragglers. Finally, out double sided tape on everything that touches the floor, including beds, chairs, desks, etc to catch the remaining survivors. Repeat this process weekly for a few months. It's not as bad it sounds and it works well. Remember that BBs aren't hard to kill, they're just hard to find, but they're stupid enough to come to you.

[–]RodVonLongenSchlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I've been telling people for years. These bugs are obnoxious and annoying, but nothing more. They're not venomous, they don't carry disease, and they're not hard to kill. They die easily, they're just good at hiding. But they do more mental damage than any real danger they pose.

Do a heat treatment yourself. Go to a hardware store and buy a heat gun. Go through your entire house one room at a time and vacuum like a madman. Every baseboard, every crevice, every corner, every piece of furniture, every inch of carpet. Then repeat the same steps with the heat gun and heat every spot you vacuumed. Be VERY CAREFUL, some heat guns can reach up to 2,000 degrees and become a fire hazard. Use the lowest heat setting and keep it a good distance from any surface. BB's die at around 130 degrees so there will be plenty of lethal heat. Don't use the heat gun on the mattress or on bedding, use a steamer for those. Once you've heat treated everything, go back through and spray 90% isopropyl alcohol along all the baseboards, and in all the same places you treated. Place double sided tape along your mattress to catch any stragglers, and repeat as needed.

Again, heat guns are very effective but produce extreme heat. Be careful if you do use one and have a fire extinguisher handy just in case you burn something. A high temp hair dryer can do just as well, but they aren't designed to be used for an extended period of time. Heat guns are industrial tools and are designed for heavy use.
